On the merit of the cars...
The Z handles better than your F-body, but isn't nearly as potent. You will see high 13's out of it vs. high 12's/low 13's out of your F-body. It will get better mileage in the city and a bit better on the highway. Style is personal, I cannot weigh in there. Women as a rule tend to go for the Z over the F-body though...if that means anything to you, go for the Z, it has a higher "chic-magnet factor". Sorry but it's true. As far as build quality, the Z wins, but I am not a fan of it's interior. The Z is more fun in the twisties and daily driving, the F-body is more fun in *****-out speed.
The Z wont make you listen to slapping noises and clackety clackety lifters though, lmao.

i drive 350z's all day long at work. they are slow, cramped (engine/everything else), and you'd be surprised at how many gay men drive them.
they're always coming in to be worked on too

Gotta say absolutely NO!! 350z feels like its standing still compared to a stock LS1 and your running LT's you will cry every time you step on the gas if go with the Nissan in remembrance of your z28.

It has a different sound but its more of an annoying buzz rather than a real exhaust. Kinda like the srt-4's exhuast. It has a half decent "burbling/rumbling" sound but after a while it is just an annoying buzzing sound rather than a v8 muscle car sound. As for the trade i think that if it is a dead even swap (meaning your payments stay the same as well as the years on the loan) then do it and trade it in on a c5 vette/mach 1/newer f-body/cobra/gto, if not and you will be taking on additional years ont he loan then pass. 350z's are nice cars but you said it appears to be ragged on and is an auto so unless your sold on the idea then let it go.

Also, im sure you have heard a cammed ls1 before but click the link on my sig if you want to hear a 98 ls1 with a 232/238 cam/headers/ory/magnaflow and tell me that doesnt sound plain mean at idle. You may like the sound of a 350z with an open exhaust but nothing will sound as good as a cammed v8 at idle and WOT. Plus, when I pull up next to a 350z, srt-4, evo, sti, etc I dont get the same feeling about racing them as i do an lsx powered car or mustang because sure they could be fast, but most arent faster than a bolt on ls1 fbody, and if they are they just dont have the same intimidation factor. However, when i pull up to another cammed fbody or full exhaust f-body and its a completely different feeling. Heart starts to beat faster and I get way more of a rush racing another v8 powered car than a 350z or similar car. JMO.

ok...sooo...350Z's are ok cars, setup with the right suspension they are wicked track cars. but honestly you can set up your Z28 for the same thing.
personally, i'd keep the Z28. because i mean hell...Z28 stock ROMPS on the 350Z all day long...so...yea i'd keep your car.

Plus parts are getting cheaper and cheaper for the LS1 wana cam a 350z have fun (4 cams = lots o money) I can only imagine the price. I know for my 4v 4.6 a cheap set is around 800 without new springs. Also try finding a replacment engine cheap if you blow it in the 350, my friend found a used ls1 for around a grand and its been running hard for well over year no troubles at all. Plus I could never give up the sound of a V-8 well maybe for a Ferrari with a V-12 lol.
