Some of these replies are so stupid. WHO can have 9 sec potential without removing a valve cover? 03-04 Cobras. WHoever said they have bad engines should stop reading forums now.

I vote Cobra. If you have funds to have fun with it. If you want to only run 11's or 12's keep your Camaro, plenty of potential there too.

I take offense to this remark. Sounds to me like you're talking down to us. Like "if you want to be slow then keep your Camaro".

There are LS1's in the 9's, 8's, 7's and even one in the 6's. Plenty of potential indeed

umm...i like both but dont you guys think he should get full exhuast before he goes and cams his car? or even a stall. there are alot of other things he could do before a cam to make it a lot faster. especially a stall. maybe i missed something. if it was me i would do stall/full exhaust first then stall/full exhaust and then a bigger cam. i have a 224 with 112lsa in an auto and a mail tune and it is very streetable.

if money is an issue stick with the ss. cobra parts are expensive. for ex my cobra had a small crack in the spoiler from some on leaning on it it cost 800 bucks for a new one plus paint. my camaro cost 350 for a new ss spoiler and paint. plus insurance. if your single its going to suck when i was single it was 280 a month for the cobra and 160 for the camaro married is now 160 for the cobra and 65 for a camaro. but for power i only had to spend 600 for a pulley swap and that was the pulley, idler, pred tuner, a mail order tune, and i bought a puller which i sold for 40 bucks less than what i paid for. all in all though its cheaper to mod a cobra than an a4 f bod.

well you ask a question like this on a f-body site. werid how most say stay LS1.
i voted for the cobra i test drove one before i bought my Z. i i could have afforded it, the car and insurance, i would have got that. my buddie just got a 04 cobra and stock is a blast. then him and i looked in to mods and flippin A cobra stuff is cheap. the little tuner kits are like 1g for +150HP i have yet to find a mod for my camaro that will add 150HP for a grand. hell my FAST ported was like 1600 and what that might get me 20HP GGGRRRRR!!!!!!!
one thing i didnt like was the jump. it is cheap to get to like 600 with the cobra but after that it takes like 10Gs to hit 800 ya know.

im just sayin i love my Z and am glad i went with it. but if i had the money i would get the cobra as a DD and do the 1g kit and call it good....
then big single turbo the camaro and drag it.... come on lotto i need those numbers

There is only 1 LSx car that ran a 6...and it was a full tube, twin turbo,
nitrous, full out race car. Impressive, but don't overstate things.
The 7 second LSx cars are getting their asses destroyed by Mustangs...
and that is a fact. Now, with that said, the LSx platform will continue
to develop and I expect them to close the gap within a few years or
so. Fantastic potential, no doubt about it. Hating either said is plain
stupid.

To make 600rwhp the right way, it takes $10K+. I've got that and pleny
more into my car. Just the rear end was over $5K. It'll take a lot more
than that to make 800rwhp the right way. Making big power is
no problem. Getting it to last is where the $$$ comes in.

The reason I am going for a cam right now is money. For full exhaust it would be around $700, about the same for a good TC. But as for the cam, I'm getting a brand new GM Hotcam kit for $225. And, because I know not everyone read it, before you say "just get a credit card to get the exhaust/TC", I already tried, and no one will give me one. So for now the cam is my best bet. It will give me a good boost in power, and it's right in my price range. Plus I'll be doing the install myself.

We have a difference of opinion here because I merely stated a fact. I don't see overstating anywhere.

I won't argue that one because I know there are some wicked fast Mustangs out there. But they aren't being destroyed specifically by any 03/04 Cobras.

Im sure you have...... If they had the same thing done to them that your car has you wouldnt even come close. It's easy to talk when you beat a stock SS when you have spent money to make yours run with it, then more to beat it. And i'm done.....

You DO realize to have a 10 sec daily driver with manners and NO nitrous you too will need a super charger.

THEN you get nitrous. Then you STILL hope you have enough power for your next race.

And thats why I race with 2 people who have 10 second cars with more then enough manners to pull daily use. Ones blown, and the others turbo'd. If you think an F-body need FI and nitrous to pull 10's, then your need to learn a lot more.
