Does your stock 10-bolt humm/whine any?
Yes, I know, they suck. Anyways. We put a new pinion bearing in mine and now it whines/humms a small amount at 50-60 and 70-80. Not bad, but you can hear it. I have been told most 10-bolts have a little whine to them, even the stock ones.

Mine has a little whine to it.. from 55-68 miles and hour. Not that loud... only really noticable at past 60.
Now when i had my v6 camaro... that one moaned so loud I couldn't harld her the alpine stereo at max. Got tired of it and swapped it with one in a junkyard...
Moser 9" will be the replacement for the stock when it gives. (auburn LSD)

Mine is dead silent (on the '98).
The '00 made a tiny bit of noise.

I have seen some of these units with all six bearings pitted and axles grooved etc.. at 30k, while others have well over 100k and look/work great.
They went REAL cheap with the 7.625" 10-bolt.

I think 98 does a tiny amount, but it's very very hard to tell since it's one of those I need to shut off radio, ignore the engine sound, ignore the outside world kind of whines...
my 88 had a set of richmonds I installed and lasted for nearly 7 years and 100+ passes at the track during that time. It whined like a jet engine on take off. It finally went going downhill in stop/go traffic. It mearly chipped a few teeth, but the torsen posi was fine. So I installed another set of gears.
You mentioned it was the torsen heavy duty you had? Is it the one with both the ring gears AND clutch pack? I don't think that ever came stock during the LS1 years of the f-body.
