Default Major Dissapointment

I just spent the last 6 days watching a ebay auction for a 2000 SS Camaro, I got so excited that I got the high bid at $10,300. The next thing I know the seller tells me he is selling it to one of his buddy's for more money after the auction has ended. What a load of crap, anyway I just wanted to complain.

Ebay has legal disclaimer's which you have to agree to before selling. There are more-and-more of these court cases being won. I would personally let if go, but, you do have options. You can have them booted from Ebay. But, unless you have the time and money to take the guy to court, there's not much else you can do. If he lives in another state, then I believe that's consdier illegal, as well. It may be called Intersate Fraud ... not sure. Sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately, it does happen frequently on Ebay.

Agreed, Once the auction ends, its a binding agreement. He is allowed to cancel the auction proir to it closing, but after it sells he is required to sell the car for that amount.

Issue a Negative Feedback against the seller. This would even be worse if this person is a registered seller on e-bay.

On another note - never buy cars off of e-bay. Your better off dealing with the seller in person and also to inspect & test drive the car.

The car was only 50 miles from my home, so buying it off of ebay was not really a issue for me. He wanted a deposit but I was going to take the full amount in person so I could see the car before I paid.

Not everyone selling cars on ebay is a scam artist. I just purchased a perfectly good '95 Firebird off of ebay about two months ago. The seller was from out-of-state, and I couldn't have asked for a better transaction.

Why didn't he just end the auction early and sell it to his friend? I don't understand why he'd wait till it was over when he knew that he had another buyer anyway?

Was he planning to screw his friend if somebody happened to bid even higher than you? Guy sounds like a loser.

That *should* be considered a material breach of contract, you were obligated to pay him the money and he was also obligated to give you the car. You can sue, and you can win, but you will be out court costs etc. Guy sounds like a tool.

i would highly recommend checking the cars you bid on in ebay.....like stated not everyones a scam artist, but you could be in all honesty buying a picture....and when you pick it up be nothing like it
