Was not aware the GTO used the same lame rear as the F body. Doesn't suprise me though.

It doesn't, dumbass. I can tell you really did a lot of research before starting this thread, not even knowing the GTO is IRS over live axle.

I have a 06 Gto and i love it.I was in the same position a year ago and i choose the goat because it was a newer car.A 02 T/A was in my list but i the extra room, comfort and warranty of the goat won.Just test drive both and make an inteligent decition about it.People can give you opinions but you are the one tha will pay for it and drive it.By the way,if I had the money i will have both the T/A and the GTO.

IIRC, the GTO has IRS.

I'd take an f-body based purely on the weight factor.

Well, they wont be making GTO's anymore. They are going to start making F-Bods again, but they will be on a diffeent platform and wont be called F-Bodies. I personally would get an f-body over a GTO. I was on the same boat a couple months ago. I found a 01 trans am ws6 with 9500 miles on it, doesnt rattle, ride is bad ***. I only got it for 16000. (took a little persuading). Now i know you more than likely wont find another car with that low of miles and as new as mine is. But i drove a GTO and yes, the interior was great....i can tell the quality differance. But if rattles(that may hapen or may never ever happen) dont bother you, go for a F-Body, you will love it. Im not ******* on GTO's but FBodys have a better history. I love GTOs, but i love fbodies more. SO go for the F-Body

I owned 11 F-Bodies in my life and currently own 2. My Vote GTO but only if its a M6. A4 GTO is horrible on gas and just adds to the already heavy weight

For comparison- i'm on autotrader right now and the basic average - 2000 TA Ws6 w/ 6spd-17500 (we'll say average about 35K-45K miles) 04 GTO 6spd. 15K miles-18000. The GTOs are going real cheap and the fbods are crazy. i have a hard time deciding what i want to do too.. the low price of the GTO makes it worth considering.

Get it based on which you like the look of more. Personally.. I dont care how you dress up a Grand Am,.. its always a grand am to me.

BUT.. some people like the amenities the gto has.. I mean its a family sedan with punch and I dont like the looks of the charger.. sooo if I had to get a family sedan.. id def get a gto. I mean we all cant afford the amg stuff or the m5's..

BTW making m3's only 2 door sedans killed me.

Ok so gto's have 2 doors... wow I need to see more gtos...

(looks)=f-body ??? (weight)=f-body ??? (popularity)=f-body ???.If you put a 2006 Pontiac GTO and a 2002 Camaro z28 in a 1/4 mile race,my money would be on the 300lbs lighter LS1 Camaro over the LS2 GTO.

alright bro im not gonna call u a noob or make any joke, statement on how much crack u have been smoking, but heres the thing, a ls2 gto is faster than a stock SS. put a good driver behind both of them and stock for stock a ls2 will always beat the SS. now a f-body maybe a better platform to use to mod for the strip and the gto is more track worthy. they are two different cars guys and yes a stock ls2 gto is faster than a stock SS i mean it does have extra 75 hp. the gto is a better dd also.

dude. i first read some of this stuff and thought you said BOOB insted of NOOB.....i had to take a double take....it was great. man its been a long day. anyways. GTO is a better daily driver over all. If you can live with the IRS then the GTO is for you. but if you are going to be modding it....get the f-car. Fbodies are just better to mod. a Stok LS2 will always beat a stock ls1,plain and simple....no rocket science involved.

Maybe if it was a LS2 GTO I woudl consider it... But why would you want an LS1 GTO over an LS1 Fbody? Looks arent comparable.. Same engine, and the Fbody is going to be cheaper as well... LS1 Fbody for the win!
