well it won't load again but i am pretty sure all obd 2 vehicles have a black box

I'm sure the tuners of our cars would notice something like this in the computer and anyone else that has taken one of our cars completely apart. If it is incorporated in the ECM/PCM itself im sure someone would know.

Its not part of on star on our cars it is built into the car you wouldnt even know it is their. and yes 99+ fbodys have them us 98'ers are lucky

It would save you the headack if someone hit your car...thats a plus to it. Doesnt hurt performence wise at all..

i'm pretty sure it is a small box located in front of the shifter or behind it but it is under the center console

I've never heard of the police actually checking one, seriously why remove it. It can help you and hurt you, but you'd probably need to be a governor for them to check

I'd have that thing ripped out in a second. I enjoy my right to privacy. And I despise the idea of being watched or monitored in any sense of the word; be it in my car, on my computer, or while out riding my bike. Call me irresponsible, or a hermit or whatever.
