Funny story about my Z
Well I finally got my dream, a 02 35th Z28 in great shape with really low miles and its got leather an power everything best of all, the price was great. This was my first real "sports car" ive owned an il be honest I diddnt know jack about LS1's or anything about modding I just knew I loved Camaro's! Anyway about 2 weeks go by im loving my new car and all the sudden I see a light flash on my cluster "check gages" so I get her home put it in park an scan my cluster for obvious answers. The only thing I notice is my speedometer needle is all the way on my dash its not held at 0 like my truck was. So I take it to GM tell them my cluster is messed up and they take my car for 3 days and call me to pick it up. They sent my cluster out got a new one put it in is what the guy told me. Got the keys I got in turned her over an drove home. Once home put it in park guess what, the needle is still passed the 0 sittin on the dash! So I go online searchin for answers I try google images search cluster in 02 camaro what do you know that needle is passed 0 too! Called GM asked them if the needle was supposed to be passed 0? Yes sir the needle is supposed to be like that, guess our tech diddnt know that when you brought it in! So in the end I paid $180.00 for a new cluster I diddnt need and to learn that when you run low on fuel a light will come on that says "check gages"!
Now im much more informed about my car and have gotten the mod bug an life is good. Just thought id share one of my story's!
GM dosent give money back for being stupid!

of course he knew, if you read, the OP paid $180 for the new cluster, i work in service at a nissan dealership and it's unbelievable how bad those service writers screw over customers with the same stuff as this. Live and learn

my buddies '04 Comp G Grand Prix had a weird snapping and clunking noise on the drivers side. Went to the dealer(it's got an extended warrenty) and they said the steering rack needed to be replaced. So they do that and it still was there. Well the car was in for a new tranny before and one of the cross braces had a loose bolt and they tightened it and it was gone. LOL but he told the dealer that if he would have had to pay for that without it under warrenty that he wouldn't pay it as they made a wrong diagnosis. It would have cost him close to a grand if he didn't have warrenty stupid dealer...

Yeah it makes sense but I just got the car and all the sudden "check gauges" comes on it never clicked in my head that it could be fuel. I knew I was low on fuel but the car was new to me an I expected to see a gas symbol or low fuel not "check gauges".
