sometimes you just need a car wash unexpectedly....

like maybe he was on his way to a wedding, or some other event in which you might have a full day and would like to show up in a shiny SS.

If my car was dirty and I needed to be somewhere and look good in my SS I wouldn't mind running it through an automatic car wash (touchless of course).

Its acceptable in some situations.

Well, there's the Altima, Maxima, Avalon, Volkswagon Passat, Accord, Subaru Legacy GT, Subaru WRX, Mazdaspeed 6, and the new Ford Fusion. The GM sedans with the LS4 V8 are also quick. That's a pretty decent line up of cars that run low 14s, high 13s. If you want to factor in the high-dollar V8, V10, and V12 luxury sedans, then the number grows substantially. All of those cars are running 1/4 mile times roughly within a few tenths of big Choco's V8, RWD, 2-door "muscle car." Also, if you want to talk about numbers, bone stock 05+ Mustang GTs have been low 13s. I've seen it with my own eyes. Hell, add a tune and some DRs and hello 12s. Not bad for a little 4.6. So no, the LS1 F-bodies are not "1 second faster" than the new GTs in the 1/4. Going off your times Choco, that's saying that they run 14.6. Ha, I think my brother's stock 5.0 could pull that.

I still haven't seen you prove me wrong on a single point. Even the notion of someone with an F-body to trash talk Mustangs because they depreciate is flat out hilarious, considering that F-bodies are every bit as bad (if not worse) in that department. The public likes Mustangs better for some reason, thus they will have better resale value. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the Mustang isn't the car that got killed off, isn't it?

Seriously, if you're going to trash talk a Mustang, why bring up depreciation and build quality as your main points when you drive a car that is every bit as bad in both respects? It's baffling to me. Personally, I'd bring up the fact that Ford has JUST NOW gotten GTs to be able to compete with the 5.7 GM stuff. It's about time if you ask me. They should have stuck with pushrods.

Post #81, all counts. (to name one) You retort by calling his Purple, automatic, 13.5 second Formula a poor excuse for a muscle car. Wow! Lame.

Didn't read anything past the first thread but...

Who cares? These cars aren't worth much, and regardless of the opinion that in 20 years they will be....you're better of with an automated wash than no wash at all, at least they get some of the road tar, bugs, pollen, etc, off the car. Better than letting it sit there if you ask me.

And for the 20 years these will be worth something...uh, I doubt it. Are 1987 Iroc's worth alot? LOL, no. If you think 30-40 years down the road, then maybe they'll be worth something. However, in 20 years AT BEST these cars will be worth about what they cost now, maybe a "rare" car will be worth a few thousand more than now. In other words, nothing to get excited about, not an investment.

Fact still remains that normal, NA V6 family sedans (yes, even your Maxima and Altima) are not going to be tearing apart LS1 F-bodies stock for stock on average.

Most of the V6 sedans I see in my area are anywhere from new up to 7 year old Impalas, Camrys, Grand Prixs, Tauras, Accord and the like. Most of these cars would be lucky to even beat a stock LT1 or TPI 5.7 F-body.

Sweet! Ford finally managed to get the Mustang in '05 to where the F-body was at in '98. Only took 'em 7 years to catch up.

I love this guy, he has common sense....

These cars are worth a lot to US because of our enthusiasm... To an average person they aren't for another 25 years as long as they look as good as they do now....

Anyway you look at it..... A nice SS like the one I just bought is still an 8 year old car that sells for $16,000 under MSRP. Not much to the average person, but yes, still a nice looking car

Putting my foot in my mouth? lol as i recall you left my thread and i have yet to see you again. face it, you're not going to win this arguement because you have people way more intellectual than you, especially CHOCO, he's going to keep proving you wrong untell you leave. i would call you a highly educated "idiot" in my POV, do you know what that is? a highly educated idiot is the guy who reads an article here or there, overhears someone talking about the car, a new tv commercial, and just combines them all into his own little mixed up story and thinks he knows his ****. Correct?

if by low 13's you mean 13.6 then you are right. i dont think you understand that the 05+GT's have about 25-50 less HP on avearge compared to a stock LS1, and even less TQ. all this inadequate power in a car that weighs about 400LBS more than an F-body......remember 100 LBS is a tenth......

I rarely ever wash my car to begin with

But what the hell is wrong with a touchless car wash? And if someone ever tried to physically assault me because of the car wash I was using Well, enjoy your jail time once you get out the hospital

I dont think anyone in this thread threatened assaulting anyone for washing their car nor did anyone say they bought their f body as an "investment" to resell in 20 years.
