Exclamation C5 z06 or mod out my bird?

Hey everyone, just wanted to see what other people's insight on this would be.

I own a 96' Formy M6, just rolled over 80k, pretty stock yielding a couple of basic modifications however...Just got hired making 30k more than I did before

I own the bird, paid off, etc etc however I've been gazing at this black / black 2004 c5 z06 lately...

I dont know if I want to put a loan on it or not, if it'll be worth it. I've only driven a c5 once and that was my uncle's "Shelby Supercharged" (I still dont understand how that works out, but apparently its serious business....) I loved it.

Anywho, Its an LT1, it can still get respectively fast however after some time, money and such. What do you fellas think? Should I make the move? Or should I look for a 98-02 Firehawk even? I got the jones for those too...

Thanks!

Id go for the Z06, its just an all around better car than an F-body. You have an LS series engine with an M6 and you weigh about 3200 pounds. its already quick stoc and has tons of potential, not to mention its an extremely sexy car. If it were me, I would buy the vette as a toy and DD the firebird.

thanks for the reply man...

I was thinking about either tossing the bird and getting a lease 4 banger for a DD and then getting the z06 or, still getting the lease and parking the bird...

I had to agree, that car is an entirely different beast, a good beast at that

If you had an LS1 Firebird then it would be a bit of a toss up even though a C5 is higher quality. Since you have an LT1, it's a no brainer.

F-body= pony car
C5= sports car

get the Z06 power, handling, braking, comfort, build quality 50/50 weight distribution. etc.etc..

If you can afford a Z06 it's a no brainer, go test drive one and take the on ramp to the freeway at almost any speed you like and see if you get hooked.

If I had the dough It would definately be a vette for my money. Unless you intend to make it a strictly drag/race car. Then I'd find an ls series f-bod. But nothing says "I'm the ****, come have sex with me" like a corvette!

with five or six thousand dollars you might get your bird in the 10's, but with $1000 of mods you could probably get that 04 ZO6 in the 10's... plus the loan. If you ask me, there is nothing wrong with obtaining credit when you have the money.

Another way to look at it would be from an equity standpoint. Yeah, an LT1 fbody is nice and it's even better since you own it straight out, but all the mods in the world will never allow that car to have and hold the value that the ZO6 will. Nomatter what you do to the fbody, it just gonna depreciate in value much faster than any vette. So yeah, the loan sucks, just like a mortgage, but in the end it's like money in the bank. Get the Vette, Get 'em wet, Get some respect.

I'd go with the z06 because IMO it's just a general step up. I think you'll save money in the long run too, possibly. (taking into consideration cost of the car of course)

Get the Z06.

Now if you had an LS1 f-body then I would keep it as you can mod the car to obtain Z06 type performance cheaper than going through the hassle of trading up for a C5 Z06.

C5 Z06 all the way I mean think about it you'll be getting a car that people have gotten into the 11's stock. I would still choose it even if you owned an LS1 F-body think about it this way maybe you'll be able to hit 12's stock with the F which probally won't happen. Now with a Z06 you will be in the 12's no doubt and will out handle any F-body on the planet it is just a better platform for performance all together.
