Default Zero low power w/2.73's and banging Y

Everytime i step on it from a dead stop, the Y pipe hits the floar board a bit and makes a pretty loud noise inside the car, ive already heated it up and pushed it in where the pipe was hitting, but besides the point the car felt like it had no power down low and wouldnt een chirp the tires at all from a stand still, any suggestions?

2:73's are dogs off the line that is why alot of people do a stall converter, and when the y-pipe bangs it sets off the knock sensor which causes the pcm to take away timing thus decreasing power

2.73s aren't your issue. I can spin my fresh 275mm tires just fine with 2.73 and a stock torque converter if I punch it off the line.

My guess is possibile KR from the banging Y-pipe as mentioned above, assuming this power loss just occured when you heard the banging noise. Otherwise, you might need a tune up.

Get the mufflex bump-stop hanger and it will stop your exhaust from hitting against your floorboard. Here's a link to it on Thunder Racing. LINK

my car doesnt pull at all 'till about 3.5K or more. idk if its due to the 2.73s or if thats how most stock ls1s do. I'de put on a stall but i'm seriously considering selling the car for a 6spd.

3.42s or 3.73s will wake up your car, want to go faster? Put a Vig/Yank stall it will definitely be even faster. I've been toe to toe w/ M6 guys w/ my set up, roll racing. At the track M6 guys are looking at my tail lights.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, don't even waste time/money on a gear swap until you get a stall. Much better gains to be had from the TC swap.

I agree w/ you completely but for the $$ conscious, gear swap is relatively cheaper than TC swap. I went w/ both at the same time. With the TC swap and gear swap, the two work well together. The 3.42 gear swap eliminated the extra work that my A4 had to do when I had the 2.73. Its like driving a stock TC around town w/ the 3.42s back there. My Yank 3500 stall eliminated the dead spots.

oh and im also ordering a TCI 3000 stall sometime in the next couple weeks..but i still gotta fix the Y i guess because it seems to be setting off the knock sensor....but it should spin the tires from a stand still with the 2.73's, should it not?

Mine does. Not a big smokey burnout, but enough wheel spin to hear and feel the fact that traction has been lost.

I'm on fresh 275 tires with 17" wheels though. Your wheel/tire setup might be heavier and hurting your launch a bit.
