Default Need help pricing TA!!

It is time to sell my TA with 33k miles, but extremely confused about pricing. NADA and KBB say it is only worth ~$19k. Autotrader and Ebay have them going for $25K. None currently in For Sale section. I am thinking around $24k with mods and condition(see sig). What do you guys think? Not in a big hurry to sell (kind of neat choosing which car to drive every day!) so don't need to take a beating. Car has never been smoked in, never been to drag strip, garage kept, never driven in the rain, only mods are to the suspension. Motor is stock except for intake and p&p tb. Runs, drives and looks great. You can do a search on my threads to see more pics and history of car. Thoughts?

$24k is way too much imo.

If your car is immaculate, I'd price it at $21,000 and go from there.

There was a local guy who had an immaculate black 02 WS6 with only 13K miles on it with basic mods that sold for around $21K a while back and I also know of an 02 SOM firehawk with only 8K miles that sold in the lower 20's. I would say you could start yours at $19 and go from there.

Exactly. Wait for someone that needs to sell the car (hopefully for financial reasons). I got a steal on mine because the owner was getting married two weeks later. I gave her a nice check for the wedding.

14-15k is the most I would spend on any LS1 F-Body unless it was heavily modified (ie. heads/cam or supercharger/blower). I am not including any of the special edition cars in that statement (berger, zl1, blackbird, etc.).

Good luck.

EDIT: Saw you were selling your car, not buying one. The above still holds true though. You won't get anywhere near $24k (sorry). It will sit at that price for a long time. There was a mint Camaro SS (1999 I believe) red, t-tops, etc. with only about 30-40k on it. The guy wanted $16k for it. I personally checked it out and it was in perfect shape, but I couldn't afford it. It was still for sale 2 years after I was looking Just goes to show you it could take a while to get the price you want for it.

P.S. I got my 1999 Z28 black, 6-speed, hardtop w/ 48k (completely stock/mint) for $10k.

From an F-body guy to another F-body guy Id say price it high around 24 and come down from that as much as you think you need to in order to sell it, if you get a person that doesnt know much about buying cars they might think they are getting a deal after you drop it some.

Just my .02

I was going to say maybe if his Firebird was blown or had a turbo set-up maybe he could get like $20k.

Start here:

http://www.edmunds.com/used/2002/pon...0/options.html

and add in your options. Then add a fair guesstimate for your mods.

Since the price is based on zip code, your car would be around $17000 in my area. Maybe your mods/wheels would boost the price to $18k.

Like said above, supply and demand play a large role. Just look at the premium paid for SOM cars.

And ebay would be a good predictor of price, but I have not seen ANY T/As going for $25k, let alone over $20k. With the exception being CE convertibles with extremely low miles.

You can't look at the asking price, you have to look at what's actually paid.

I looked at ebay, and all their "BUY NOW" prices are in the low to mid 20s. I am sure I will get more for it locally than I will on the forum, just want to be smart about it. Thanks for the replies.

2 months ago I bought a NBM 2001 ws6 with 38,000 on it for 16k. It had aftermarket rims, a loudmouth, SLP Lip and MAF. Also it had in dash TV and some other little things that added a few dollars.

I looked and priced on eBay for about 2 months before I found the right car. If you are not in a hurry to sell it I would advertise locally for about 22k and negotiate from there. I think anyone who is looking online knows that some sell a lot cheaper then that though.

Just my 2 cents
