Default Installed SLP Lid..

Well i just got my SLP Lid, (My first impression was, "that is it!" ..well i got it on in about 10 minutes. I noticed that on my factory lid there is a hose that comes out the right hand side and goes around to the right side of the engine compartment. There is also a hole on the right hand side of the SLP lid where i assume this is supposed to go. It wouldn't stay in so i just didn't hook it up. Is this vital to have hooked up and exactly what does it do?

BTW i noticed an ever so slight difference in acceleration/throttle response.

did you install the grommet that came with the lid, so the hose stays in?

There was no grommet that came with the Lid. I bought it used. There was a grommet for the MAFH i think it's called and i got that all hooked up. No SES light came on or anything. There is a little grommet that was on the factory air box, but in the install university tutorial i don't see the hose. The hose isn't even long enough to stay in.

it wont hurt any thing as long as you install a breather filter in the hose.

so i just connect that to the end of the hose? it'd probably be easier to just get the damn thing to stay in the LID. i dunno.

Yeah i just managed to get the search to work. Evidently its something for the AIR system and getting a little breather filter for it from Auto Zone would be fine.

Heres a few pics of the must nicer looking engine compartment. One little mod like this and i think i'm already hooked, even though i couldnt really tell a difference in performance. I know my loudmouth catback will be a bit more noticeable

The 2000-2002 have an air tube from your filter (upper lid assy.) to your air pump. The reason they changed the design is because the 98-99 reported to have sucked in water causing the electric air pump to fry.

Just put any EGR or small 3/4" mall tube air filter on there and you'll be fine.

Peace,
Craig.

*Edit - Just saw the pics you just posted. I didn't know your car was a 98 or 99.

Either get another lid, or epoxy that hole closed. Thats unfiltered air coming in that hole.

Peace,
Craig.

My car is a 2000. I'm going to just have to buy a breather filter for it, i did notice it was 3/4" as i just measured it. I'll have to drive on it for a few days though hopefully nothing will get in there.

Here is a pic of mine. 2000 LS1. I would be very carefull about what you do. You should have been able to salvage the part that you took off the stock set up that goes into that hole. If you dont have it get a breather filter for you hose, and get that hole plugged.

Check out your other post about the clamps for the LM also.
