Default Slow Slow Slow Ls1

so i got a new camaro today, didnt buy it yet, but its at my house. its a 2001 with a bbk intake manifold, bbk tb, tb spacer, long tube headers and exhaust. it sounds real nice. the motor is real clean too. it looks like it was takin care of cause the interior is all real nice. its an a4. so i took it down the road....the thing is ***** slow?? wtf? my car before this was a 99 trans am with only longtubes and exhaust, so i figured this would be faster. can anyone tell me whats wrong here? i got on it at 20ish and its got NOTHING....!?!?!!? can anyone tell me whats going on!?

Cam Size? Converter stall speed? Rear Gear? Tuned?
Why are you buying it if it's so slow? Good deal of course.

Possibly 2:75 rear? I know mine has it and feels slow compared to a 3:23 setup.

i dont know the cam size or the gears in the rear. is there a dif in the cams in a stock 99 ls1(the trans am) and a stock 01 ls1(camaro). and how many dif rear gears did they put in? i wanna buy it cause it looks to sweet but i dont wanna make a mistake. maybe it dosent seem as fast cause the trans am was my first f body and now this one is my second.

first of all there is only one cam in a ls1 motor. it basically the same mods as ur other car as the a TB spacer is nothing and BBK maifold and TB is not really much either. the owner shoulda kept the ls6 that was on there before!

as for rearend gears check the door tag on drivers side door.
GU2=2.73 rear end gears
GU5=3.23 rear end gears

good luck

The feel of an LS1 is deceiving. They don't feel fast. LT1's feel fast, but not LS1's really. Can't go by feel. Call a friend with a fast car and race.

Just find a local place to do a dyno for a couple hundred bucks. Im sure the motor is fine. No check engine lights right? It does light up when the key is turned on correct?

Time to put a BIG stall on that sucker and wake her up. If you want a tighter feel put a higher numerical gears.

Get a 3000 - 3500 stall, that will put a smile on your face. It did for me!!!! Change the whole driving experience. If not, buy some two series carrier gears and upgrade to 3:42's.

The dash doesn't work? There might b a reason why the dash doesn't work, he doesn't want u seeing the check engine light on. If not that, think of it this way, if the dash doesn't work, think of what else is probably wrong with it. Nobody goes riding around with the dash not working n it being a well taken care of car, right? Sounds shady to me IMO.

2.73 was the correct factory ratio (not 2.75)

You can't determine gear size from the door decal alone. With the other mods done to the car, you can't rule out the fact that the previous owner could have swapped the gears for 3.73 or 4.10 gears. 3.73 is a common size for gear swaps in A4 fourth-gens.

To many red flags for me to spend my money on something like that. If the dash doesnt work, take the car to pep boys or advance auto parts and have them scan the computer for free. It will tell you whats going on. If that checks out, go over the general problems like clogged fuel filter, dirty MAF, etc. IMO, dont waste your money and buy a different car.

OK so I guess we've assumed the cam is stock.
What do you do with a post like this, we guess, it's useless.

So the dash doesn't work, whats that mean? no odometer, fuel gage, etc?
What gears and converter it has doesn't matter just put it in 1st manually to get the rpm up. Maybe it's shifting too early, maybe it's got a problem with second gear starts, does it shift 3 times? When you floor it does it downshift? How's the exhaust smell? Smoke? air cleaner and MAF clean? Cats clogged? brakes dragging? fuel pressure is easy enough to check, most auto parts stores can scan it for codes for free.
