Not to highjack this thread, but isn't doing anything over 100 in an automatic bad for the car when your making the tach scream near redline? I was toyin around with my friend's Cobra one night, and saw my tach scream to 6200 at one point, and then I remembered that transmissions are about 2 grand to fix. I don't think I'll be doing that too much more.

x3 Probably fried the clutchs or bands or both. not really an expert on 4L60e's but could be easy enough to rebuild yourself if thats the case. then it would only cost maybe 3-400. I rebuilt mine once. if you get a TC get a good one too! You don't want to ***** foot around with that. With a good TC your looking at 6-1000 more. Assuming no damage to the housing the fluid can run out the vent tube or tailshaft. Due to air currents moving all around your car it will always end up all over the back of the car.
To answer that, I have to say NO! Being low on tranny fluid probably caused your situation or being a mustang

Probably looking at close to $2000 depending on what you have done...and who you know etc etc. I had mine removed, replaced, and fully built for $1200...but I had a good connection for a side job trans tech. If you pull it yourself you will save some grip...but in the end probably wish you just paid to have it removed+replaced. (The top bellhousing to block bolt is a real joy!

hours lifts are a great thing to be able to use when doing anything with these cars.
