Unhappy Blew my tranny last night

Well..... like the title says, i blew my tranny last night on 1-10 going home from mid-town. I decided it was a good idea to max my car out (top speed), got up to about 165ish and stayed at that speed for a little bit. I then started slowing down only to find out my car wasn't driving normally anymore. I've done this before without having any probs but i guess last night was it..

So i pulled over on north mason, only to be met by 2 cops. (of course i had been drinking) They didn't harass me much and in fact they took off after someone shortly after stopping behind me. So I had Golbows come tow my car home.

Anyway, i noticed a ton of "fluid" all over my undercarriage and i rubbed and smelled it, and i honestly couldn't tell what kind of fluid it is but my engine seemed to be running just fine. I haven't gone outside yet to look at it but i'm sure its the tranny.

This ****** sucks bad!! Anyone know how much I'm getting ready to spend?

A4 or M6?

Either way, that does suck.

Yep, looks like you probably overheated the tranny. That happened to me when i put in a RMVB in my 700r4 and then drove from VA to Texas. It didn't love long after that.

my a4 went out not long ago i spent around 1100 for a built up transmission from finish line performance transmissions, but I bought the transmission from a friend and put it in for nothing. Your looking to spend probably 2500 depending on the trans u want. The lvl 4 flp trans wass 1850 new and if u dont know how to put it in probably add another 500 to that.

Mine went out last Monday....great opportunity to upgrade to the PT4400 converter and a better tranny. I'm looking at FLT, but my wallet says "oh no". We'll see.

yeah i know. i just thought i'd share my experience with everyone. Maybe someone will read this thread and not be an idiot like myself.

I feel bad enough about the situation as it is, but I guess I deserve the harshness..

But yet again - i was NOT DRUNK but yes I did have some drinks

hardy har

i have a question. first, there is a **** load of tranny fluid underneath my car and that's normal but where the hell did it come from? everything looks perfectly fine.

Second, the fluid got all over the back of my car too as i was driving hella fast... is it gonna hurt my paint? surely it can't be good but how bad is it?

My tranny tail shaft housing blew up. I thought it was my actual tranny blew but it was just the housing. I was at high velocity when it happened. Kinda just loud pop. I thought at first it was my engine then I saw I still have oil pressure so next thing came to my mind it was the tranny.

Last I checked he didn't ask for your opinion on drunk driving and speeding.

I broke down and bought a Performabuilt 4L60E stage 2 for $1500. 700hp rated and they gave me a tranny cooler with it. Just thought I would put in my 2 cents worth. But the people (tranny shops) around me can't match the Quality of the billit parts in this tranny or their rebuilds won't hold up to a mean LS1. I had 2 rebuilt and wasted my money. It you were to post this in the Tranny section you would get more response. Fact.
