Wind drag from T-tops??
Im curious as to how much drag having the T-tops off in your f-body causes? I have raced people with my t-tops off and it seems to make a difference, especially at higher speeds. Anyone ever tested the difference in acceleration with them on as opposed to having them off?

Well thats exactly what Im wondering about, only hwy races would matter. Alot of the time Im just cruising with the t-tops down on the hwy and someone pulls up and I obviously dont have time to stop and put them back on. It seems to me that having them off would cause massive amounts of drag at 100+mph, therefore allowing a similar powered car to pass me and win.

sure thing, it makes a difference, there is a hill here in hawaii we call double lanes, i was going 150 up it with ttops on, 145 with ttops off, but i did have to do a lil lane switching... idk if this gen camaro is better than yours as far as aerodynamics with the tops off, but there is FOR SURE a difference.

If you have the same HP and highway race someone who has them on when you're are off, it may or may nto actually cost you the race. I believe the tops are in a low pressure area anyways and while as it could cause turbulence but causing a dip in the airflow, it won't be much of a "wind drag" problem due to the low pressure. It's not a big of a deal as you would think

We got my 92' RS w/ a 3.1 in it up to 115 on a closed course with over 700 pounds worth of people/stuff in it one day while the t tops were off. It might not make too much of a difference, but man was it loud.

I think T-tops off/windows down makes SOMEWHAT of a difference, the faster your moving the more it comes into effect. I've been up to fairly quick speeds w/ my t-tops off/windows down and i didnt pull the stang i was against quite as much, i'd be interested to see 1/4 mile times with t-tops off/windows down. vs. regular just to have any proof one way or another. Anyone want to volunteer for next time at the track?
