Default Need Proof That LS1's are Extremely Responsive to Mods

Hello all,
I was telling my friend last night about a Trans Am that I saw for sale on here that had a Cam, Fast 90 Intake with a Nick Williams TB, a tune, a pulley, full exhaust, and other small things that was putting about 430 hp to the ground. My friend happens to be a Ford guy, and has heard similar stories, but still does not believe that you can do things like this to an LS1 and get over 100 hp gains with little effort compared to 5.0's and LT1s of the past. Lets hear some stories about some mods with great gains. This is the world of Chevy, we don't suffice to throwing on blowers as a last resort to making a quick 100 hp like the stangers usually do (not trying to knock mustang guys on here), we do cams and heads and build these monsters right! Lets hear the stories..

Dyno numbers are probably the only real proof.

Check the Dyno section. That's plenty of proof. That would really **** him off when he starts seeing cam only 400hp cars. hahaha

Good call.

Your friend DOES sound like a dumbass, though. Tell him to spend about 10 minutes viewing this site and it will either a) prove he's wrong and get him to admit it or b) prove that he is IN FACT a dumbass if he still doesn't believe you.

What hooked me on ls1s was seeing a cam only car at the strip that looked like a stock SS running 7.30's in the 1/8th. I asked the guy filming him what all he had done to it(what heads etc?). He said full exhaust, aftermarket clutch, cam, tune, and street slicks. My jaw dropped. It is hard to believe it until you see it. Now that I'm driving one, I see what I and so many have been missing.

Tell your Ferd Friend to put his Nasty Ice beer down, walk away from his ford pickup truck, and believe the hype. I hate how people doubt the bolt on's. His proof is a couple thousand members on here.

Dumass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a custom grind cam, LTs + ory, Magnaflow catback, a lid and some valvetrain upgrades for the cam and tuned it myself and hit 405 HP

Just so you know, I was a DIE HARD ford man myself. Owned 4 different ones (5.0s to late model 4.6s) My buddy had an 01' WS6 and said just take it for a spin I promise you will want one. I drove it and loved it. I sold my heavily modified COBRA a couple weeks later for a WS6.

I am now working to build an 11 sec Silverado with forged 408 internals.

Trying to convince a Ford guy anything is hard enough. Then throw the words "Camaro" or "Firebird" in there and it's damn near impossible. It became even harder once the 03-04 Cobra's came out. Awesome cars with very little money/mods needed to be really fast. So now they just use that as an example of how much better Fords/Mustangs are.

My cam only '01 SS put down 403 RWHP@ Speed Inc. last summer. Those numbers were made through high flow cats, and before I added YT rockers and an underdrive pully. What I'm saying is that I left some power on the table with cats on that car. My '99 is a different story 538 RWHP and that's NA. Take that Mustangers!

Lets see if I can't ease your mind. The boys from Garner, NC have done well at the LSX Shootout in Memphis this weekend. Ryans Performance Machine (RPM) now hold 2 World records. Brad ran a 8.27@163 for the new Worlds record for a Nitros LSX and Martin ran a 10.63@129 for the new Worlds record for a Trailblazer SS.. Now who afraid of the bad old Ford? Not me for sure!!
