switched back to paper

Well, considering that you live in New Mexico, where there is probably a lot of dust kicked up in the air like in some parts of Texas, a paper filter is probably a better/safer choice.

I've never had a MAF issue. I only clean my K&N every 3 months or so, within that 3 months time, I only tap clean it ever so often. I believe the people complaining about the MAF issues are probably spraying way too much oil on it is what it seems to me. I only spray a light coat on it and it works fine. Also, always a tenth of a second or so quicker in the quarter mile. All my cars with the K&N filter opposed to my cars without a K&N always ran better.

[QUOTE=chrisdacarnut;7979286]Well it's a reusable filter... How about cleaning it out every once in a while. Jeez friggin lazy asses. And dyno's don't lie, k&n makes a difference.[/QUOT
it gets pretty old cleaning it once a month.

You're right, dynos don't lie. K&N makes no measureable difference on LS1 F-bodies. Any change less than 3rwhp is within the margin of error. You could just as easily pick up 2rwhp switching back to a paper filter on back to back dynos as well. It's just not enough of a change to prove a solid power gain for either filter.
But one thing is for sure. Oil tests don't lie either, and results will always come back with lower silicon (dirt) content when using paper rather than oil/cotton filters. Even if the K&N is good for a 1-2rwhp gain, I'd rather give up the power for the better filtration of the paper filter.
