Stock: LS1 F-Body vs. LS2 GTO
I've been curious about this for a while now... I have a '00 WS6, and my brother is planning on buying an '05-'06 GTO, and I've been wondering how they compare. As far as I knew, the GTOs were at least the same, or a little faster than the Fbodies. Is that right? Or am I thinking wrong? I just met this other guy the other day that makes me doubt myself. He said he thought that the GTOs were really slow. He told my brother that and then he got mad at me because he thought I was feeding him a line about his car being as fast as mine stock so that he would go buy a slower car..... lol . So what's the truth guys?

ummm, this type of thread has been put up a bunch of times :/
LS2 gtos put about 400 flywheel HP.... so... do the math and figure out where your car stacks up to his stock 400 flywheel HP

I have beaten several (Jelly beans) GTO's. Its just too bloody heavy even with the additional power. Usually pull away from them VERY slowly though. Think of it this way...your buddy is buying a new expensive AUTO LOAN BILL and you have an older MAINTENANCE/HEAVY MODIFICATION OPTION, who do you think will win? I would rather not be paying my car payment and putting the money towards mods.

I realize the hp and weight difference, but ET-wise, which one is on average faster at the track stock? That is what I'm curious about.
Also, I just thought of something else. Do the LS2's respond even better to mods than the LS1? Like the LS1 compared to the LT1 before it? Or are they close enough in technology that they respond very similarly?

if looking for a newer RWD domestic v-8 car, the only ones that cross my mind are the GTO and stang. The GTO interior is way nice and comfortable especially for a large person. but i feel there weight hurts the car more than anything.
but i agree with the masses about it being a driver's race with an fbody and GTO

The lighter car will have faster ET in this case . LS2 mod for mod to LS1 mod for mod is very similarly ,the weight is still the best facter

One more question. I know that A4 LS1's aren't really slower (ET-wise) than the M6 cars, but how about the GTOs? Is th manual much faster than the auto, or vice versa?
