Default Pre purchase inspection checklist?

I was looking to see what I should watch out for when buying a used LS1... a checklist would be nice, what to look for and what to listen for... the best inspection procedure for when I go shopping. What years and models to watch out for... what are certain things to consider when buying a certain year/trim... Thanks

Your best bet is try to find a 01-02 stock 25xxx-50xxx vehicle.
Other than that the normal stuff.
Good Luck.

#1, Clean and clear title. Check.
#2, Starts. Check.
#3, Drives. Check.

Good to go.

Otherwise, add compression test to the list of things you'll never do once you've found the car you can't live without. It's not a cheap/quick process, but, it will give you a pretty good look inside the engine.

Default Prior owner??

I sure would like to know who the 1st owner was. No car can take abuse, not even these strong LS1 cars. I would insist on knowing who owned it and how it was driven if at all possible. There are actually quite a few low mileage F-bodies out there still driven by older guys that rarely burned rubber. After all who could afford $30,000+ cars back then? Those are the used ones to look for. Don't be afraid to travel to find one. What's a weekend of travel for a car you may keep for years. Good luck!

-dont buy any that are under 1999
-listen for the rear end if it makeing a roaring sound they are easy to break in these cars
-i would look for a m6 cuz i have a a4 im tired of it plus 4l60e are junk
-prefer to get 2001 or 2002
-listen for piston slap in those years^
-any knocking or ticking sounds
-good oil ?
-how many miles vs. price
-i would take it 2 a shop and have them look at it before u buy it
-test drive the f**k out of it
-2000 and lower have lifter problems so listen for that
-if u get a a4 check trany fluid see if it at level and clean or not
-get t tops there great but no convertible cuz that alot of extra weight unless ur not worried about that

roofbubbles.

check under engine for dark spots from things like a leaky waterpump.

roofbubbles.

rattling cats (rev it and listen for them to rattle).

then check again for roofbubbles.

You should try and get them to start it cold. Don't tell them when you will be there so they can let it warm up.
