Default ticket for no front license plate: need tips for mounting

okay i recently received a ticket for no front LP. The state trooper was an a-hole and didn't even care I was going to have the car in a car show like 1/4 mile down the road. So my question is what are my options if I have a billet grille on the front with no bracket to mount a LP. I have read some previous posts about this but nothing really to do with billet grilles. I really don't want to mount it on my air dam or put it in the windshield. Is there a bracket I can buy specially made for billet grilles or should I just go the zip-tie way.
Please post pictures if you have any of this done on your car.

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't even bother with it. I don't have one and they can ticket me again and again, I'll just pay it and forget it. If they make you show up with it on put it on for them then remove when you get home.

bend the plate a little to fit the curve of the grille then with double sided tape or screws mount the plate to the bumper behind the billet grille, and remount your grille. the gille will actually be very visable.

doesn't it have to be visible for the cops. If its behind the grille you really can't see it. Is there some type of bracket I can buy or should I just use some zip ties and then take it back off after I see the judge. They are very **** about no front LP where I live.

Depending on the state,.. its basically a "fix-it-ticket" Your not charged for it. You just need to go to the courthouse and have a county officer sign off on it and your fine.

...I'd put it on and head to the Court House or CHP office and have em sign off on it, drive a block away,... get out,... throw the plate in the back seat and wait till it happens again.

Should be pretty easy with a billet grille. Just zip tie the sucker on there temporarily.

okay maybe zip ties are just easier. the cop that pulled me over said to put it on and take a picture when I go see the judge. So thats what I plan to do and then take it back off. Front plates just don't look good when your at shows.

So there is no bracket I could just get.

$237!?!?!?

Smoke much?

It's $20.35.

The "$237" part is this:

"50388 Grille, 1998-02 Camaro Bowtie/Replacement $236.85"

That is for an entire grille replacement, not the bracket

Check the link again.

I'd just move to a no front plate state.

Don't put one on. That would be the option I would go with. The ticket will cost you as much as the bracket (in my state anyway).

Some people say they get away with having it on the chin spoiler/brush guard thing. You could argue that it's legal to have it there. It's not obstrurcted down there if you're three years old or a midget, but if your car's low, it's going to scrape at times. The guidlines go by state, so a cop from Texas might know if it would fly IN COURT (not with an officer, who may or may not know the statute).

I say zip tie it so you can make the cops happy and you can take it off when you want. That way everybody is happy.

yeah I've got a court date. but i sent in a form to see a trial by judge. I'm just gonna zip tie it on and take a picture to show the judge and see what he says. its just a waste of freakin time in my opinion.

ive got 5 tickets for this, and was tired of getting harassed about it everytime i was out and about. i just bought a chrome grille for like $45 and stuck the plate behind it and the police have left me alone ever since. before that i had it in my front windshield clear as day to read and more easy to read then behind the grille and still got pulled over.
