C5 FRC or C5 Z06? Poll inside
Well after it being more than 1 month ago I sold my SS to get a Vette, the time for a Vette should be soon. I have narrowed my choice down a nice 00 Light Pewter Met FRC. It has active handling etc but doesn't have Heads Up display. It has chrome Z06 wheels and a Corsa exhaust. about 70k miles. The Z06 is a black 02 has all options but is pretty much stock with 66k. THe difference in the price is about $4000.00 I know the Z06 besides being faster already has the LS6 intake and oil pump and is lighter than the FRC. I really like both cars but I'm kind of torn on which one to get. The only downfall in my opinion is the Z06 is it's black. The downfall to the FRC is its kinda plain and missing the LS6 intake/oil pump and it will be another LS1 in my driveway besides my Trans Am(Even though the LS6 isn't all that much different). What do you guys/gals think? Thanks

Whats the actual price of each cars??
How much different is the insurance??
Is the 4K worth the 35 or 55hp difference??
You say the FRC has Z06 wheels, but you think the FRC looks plain. Correct me if I am wrong but other than rear brake ducts, aren't they the same exterior wise??

I went with the Z06 after test driving several C5's (Z06, FRC, coupes, and 1 stock C6) The Z was just so balanced. plus if you get the modding bug heads, nitrous, forced induction, etc. should be priced the same as FRC's so the only money saver is the $4000.

I voted Z06, but IMO, If you are going to mod it, go FRC, if its going to stay stock for a while, Z06. I havent ever owned either of them, so I cant really give you a good feel difference.

Thanks for the responses everyone. Well the FRC is a 18k and the Z06 around 22.5k. The only other bad thing about the Z06 is its 1500 miles away and i wouldn't actually get a chance to see it before i brought it

The Z06 doesn't just have an LS6 intake and oil pump. . .Its got an LS6. . .
The FRC is only special to people with a llove for FRCs, it isn't actually anything special other than being a cheap corvette. PEople will just ALL over me for saying that but maybe you should consider that
1) they stopped making it and made the Z06
2) they have never made them again.
If it was truly a "special car" they would keep making them to make money off of them. FRC isn't worth a dime unless you want to look like a fake Z06, or just like someone that couldn't afford the real thing and did what they could to get into a vette

For credibility I actually drive a C5 Vert, not an F-Body. Trust me, the Z06 is better. All there is to it.

i vote frc.... if you plan on driving it.... imo black is only good for a show car.
i wish that I would have waited for a silver V instead of settling on the blk one that is full of swirls and other blemishes. my .02

I would go with the Z06.
I recently sold my Z28 and was hoping to get a FRC. Right before I did, my dad picked up a 2002 Z06. It feels like a completely different car and is downright amazing. I drove one FRC that was at a dealer and I wasn't impressed. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very nice car and for me personally, I'd still love to find one. BUT it would have to be modded. It felt different from my Z28 but not different enough power wise. You wouldn't think the Z06 is so much different feeling but it definitely is.
If you haven't driven both yet, I say go see both and take it from there. But if you have the money to spend on the Z06, go for it. They will hold their value also.
