You guys are silly. I think some of them have fuel envy. I see a lot of the folks that are complaining drive A4's. You will never see 30 mpg with an A4. A t56 drops your rpms so low its like your idling down the highway (ya I know theres more to it). Why are you people letting this bother you? Say 'good for you' and move on.

Frankly I have seen cars get this good of mileage. Usually they are stock or slightly modded camaros (t/a's are a bit heavier and less aerodynamic, but look cooler ) with a t56 and stock gearing. If a car is rated at 28 on the highway why wouldn't it be possible to break that by a few mpgs?

To tell the truth the 30+'s **** me off because they get better mileage than my 4 cylinder saturn.

I get about 16 - 17 mpg in my 99 T/A and 17 - 18 in my WS6. I get in the mid - high 20's in my Cobalt SS.

I have a '00 Formula with an A4, 2.73's, and 69k. I bought it in August with 65k on it.

I've checked the mileage every time I've filled it up so far (always 93 octane), and I've gotten between 22.3 and 23.2. It's never moved out of that range.

I'll try and describe things as accurately as I can...

I commute 60 miles every day (30 each way) , ten miles of the trip is a 2 lane road with a 35mph speed limit, the other 20 is highway (of which 5 miles is 50mph limit). There are a few hills, and I generally keep it under 70, I set the cruise at 68 or so where I can, but on the slower portion of the highway I stay at 55-60. I don't race or drive very agressively, I guess old habbits die hard after 6 years of trying to get the best mpg out of a 4 liter Jeep. I get on it once in a while though on onramps.

I was hoping to get a little better mileage, after reading threads like these where A4/2.73 guys claim close to 30, but then again, I haven't taken her on a long highway-only trip yet. Could be worse, my Jeep gets 16.5 or so, and my '88 L98 GTA got about the same. Highest I ever hit with that car was 21, all highway, and alot of downhills.

I plan on doing a FTRA soon, and I see mileage gains of 5-10% listed with that, so hopefully I can get the mileage up to 24 or so.

For comparison, I checked the mileage on my '98 M6 Formy once...I drove 150 miles to the track, raced 4 times, and when I filled it before heading home I found that I had gotten 27.6 mpg.

How much MPG would a 11.2 in the 1/4 car get? (Manual, LS1, 3.73's). Just curious because that's what I might build next year.

* Edit: Or a 400 small block.

i find it really hard to believe that any 346/347 ls1 gets better than 20 in the city. Ive heard lots of people claim they could do it but somehow they only get 250 miles per tank. hmmm

My best with stock gears was 29.2, tops out for 50 miles...the in for 50 miles. Same road tops out 50 in 50 again, but with 4.10 gears got 29.8. Then took it on another trip about 100 miles round trip got 30.3. This was all before my long tubes so I'd assume i'd see even alittle better now

Best was 28 highway bone stock. That was a on a long drive all highway. I think my best average (city and highway) has been 19. Usually around 17, depending on how much fun i have with that tank. Lowest has been 14.

I havent checked it since i got exhaust, but it is running a little rich. SLP lid and K&N filter are on their way. Hoping that will lean out the mixture a little bit, and be closer to stoichiometric. I would think that it would be able to take in more air faster, resulting in more combustion, reducing richness, but i dont know if that would be true or not. Im hoping so! Ill see my MPG with exhaust tomorrow when i fill up. Gas was great there for awhile (high $2.60's to low $2.70s), then it jumped to $3.00 overnight, damn gas companies. I hope its no more than $3 tomorrow.

I run 92 octane usually, since thats what Speedway has and i always go there (Speedy Rewards!). Sometimes i get Premium for only 10 cents more than Regular. Usually its 13 more though. Without the SR its 20 cents more. In GA i saw it was 40 cents more!

With mods in sig. I average 21-23,with about half my driving in town. Before mods,my best was 24.4 avg. mostly highway with a/c going and cruise @80-85. Seems like it's pretty common. I'm just curious what the h/c and 4000 stall will drop to.

I daily drive an 02 Z28 M6 with a cartek 2x cam, longtubes, corsa exhaust, high flow cats, CAI, and underdrive pulley (made 403rwhp and 375rwtq). I consistently manage 22mpg mixed driving (about 8 miles stop and go and 11 miles highway daily). The worst I have gotten was 19.3mpg due to the fact I made 4 drag strip passes and cruised my local town for a while. BTW, the car ran 12.6@117.5mph with a crappy 2.333 60 ft so it will be good for an 11 sec pass if launched hard. (didn't want to break my rear until I have enough money to replace it with a 12 bolt)

When I was stock, 30-31 MPG stricly highway with cruise set.

Now with all the mods making over 450HP I get about 24-25 MPG highway and 13-14 driving in the city.

Its common, I used to be able to get very close to 450 miles per tank but I would usually fill it before I drained it out. It would have gone 450 but I dont like to run that risk of running out. 400 miles on a tank I always did and the gas gauge still wasnt at the E line, there was a good 1-2 gallons left.

You just have to have a well running tuned up stock car.

That is just crazy, the best I could ever do stock was around 350-375 highway before gas light came on. If you figure that out 16.5 gallons total the light means just 2 left so that would give me around 25.5mpg Now with mods I am getting around 21mpg highway and probally about 13-14 around town....

I am running a G5X3,LS6 heads,3600 stall, 323's and full bolt on's...
Usually get @ least 18-20mpg with sensible driving (285-300 miles to a tank).

The best i have gotten was about 24mpg when i drove my car from Texas to Wisconsin. I was averaging around 335-345 miles per tank..

These are great cars!
