Wrong starting in 1999 they changed to the 16.8 gallon plastic tank, and prior to that it was a 15.8 steel tank. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showpost....80&postcount=2

I've never gotten better than 26mpg on the highway, and am usually happy to get over 18mpg combined (mostly city). If I stay strictly in the city, I get around 12mpg.

It's on a mostly stock M6.

If you say so, mine is 14.5 on my 2000, ive filled it from empty before. At 14.5 it starts to overflow. Plus my owners manual says 14.5 as well. But hey since you quoted an internet page I guess youre right. The net is always right.

I just filled up with 15.94 gallons {gas pump reading} ran it down into the E just to test so the tank would have to be bigger than 14.5....But I guess some cars are different both my 99 an 02 have taken more than 14.5......

Well I guess they are different. I have never been able to squeeze 15 into my tank, even when the needle is below the E mark.

Don't go by just the needle, they can hit E with a reserve of 1-2 gals in the tank still.

My gauge works like crap, so I go by my trip odometer. I usually see between 21-23mpg on my work commute (70% highway)
