Default What's it called?

What is the black box unit on the passanger side firewall that the hoses from the water pump run into, called? What does it do? I guess mine is busted because when the thermo opens it pours water and coolant. I think it will be pain in the *** to fix. Will I have to drop the motor to fix? If I knew what it was called I could be on the mission of finding one.

Thats where your heater core and stuff is. I would say it's broke too if coolant is pouring out of it. I would bypass it until you can get it fixed so you don't keep losing coolant.

Oh and yes, they are kinda a pain in the butt to fix IMO

I assume this comment is directed at how the heater core comes out. While yes you are correct, nobody ever said otherwise.

You can just bypass it using a u joint. Maybe make something out of copper pipe. Just run the hose's into one another. but your heater will not work untill you get a new heater core. The heater core is located underneath the dash on the passenger side. They run around 90 bucks.

It was questioned as to whether the engine should be dropped in order to fix the problem. That would be why the comment was made about how the heater core is actually removed. It could save a poor fella from doing way too much unnecessary work.

My bad.....I guess I missed the question about pulling the motor the first time around. Didn't mean to sound like a douche.

Im talking about the whole black box unit on the fire wall. I realize were the heater core is and how to change it. The car was wrecked and its busted up and when I put in my new motor it poured water after the thermo opened. Is this box pressure sealed or anything. Is the box just a cover for the heater core.
