The CD player in my Trans Am skips. I don't know if it's just dirty or not. I just bought it a few months ago, btw.

I would say no, mine was 9 years old and still working perfectly. I havn't heard anything bad about the head unit, but I have heard bad about the speakers. 3 out of my 10 where blown when I bought the car. I bought my car in LA, try driving 2300 miles without a radio, haha. Anyway I'd try cleaning it and see what happens.

When I got my car, the cd player would make bad noises and shoot the cd back out. Don't know what the previous owner did to it.. He got it when he was 16 and sold it to me at 21, so I'm guessing it's been through a lot. A new Sony head unit fixed that problem though.
Hope the cleaning cd works. Maybe canned air would help? Or both in unison?

I've had 4 of them (in 4 different cars), never had one fail, even in my highest mileage F-body (doing fine @ 72k miles).

Mine does that sometimes too, when it comes out look at it. I always find in certain weather the CD will get condensation on it. Usually in the colder months. Holding it up to the heating vent will dry it off and it always works after that.
