Depends on your carrier. With Allstate you'll get whatever the adjuster deems the car is worth. They're usually pretty fair about it, but I don't know if they take into account any mods you had.
Geico (based on stories I've heard) will probably screw you over.
State Farm I've heard good things, but nothing specific.
Progressive I've heard nothing about.

I totalled my old GT, 97 auto had a cobra R hood, S281 wing, chrome bullitt's, lowered and 100k miles.
First offer was 6200. I argued and mailed in receipts (buddy at a body shop) and after 2 weeks I ended up with 8000. So what I'm saying is dont just give in for thier offer. Thanks to that total(not my fault) I now drive a 01 Formula.

When my old 95 Z28 was totaled in late '01, State Farm gave me enough to pay off the balance of the loan, plus cash in my pocket. I also got reimbursed for all mods done to the car, provided i had reciepts. So hopefully you have State Farm or another good insurance company.

A buddy of mine was telling me with these cars, typically insurance companys cut checks for 3-4 even $5k more than the suggested retail book value. i still owe 6k on the car and was looking to get another one.....i would have preferred this just not happen at all

You are entitled to full restitution because it was the other guy's fault. Yes, that's right, even anything in the car, like your golf clubs or after market radio, that was damaged should be replaced. It's not your insurance company you need to deal with, but the other guy's. They (not the insurance company but the other guy) are required to restore your car to the condition it was before the accident. It's his insurance that will ultimately pay for this.
Talk to a lawyer. Unless the guy didn't have any insurance, you should be able to get the amount of his liability coverage. Don't forget that this isn't just a car he's damaged. This accident has cost you the use of your transportation and any medical issues.
The lowest amount of liability coverage is $25K. I'm not saying that you'll get that, but I wouldn't stop until I got at least a car in the same shape as what you had plus some extra cash to cover your time and physical losses.
I'm really sorry to hear about this. Your car looked nice. I hope it all works out.

You're probably going to get screwed any way you look at it. If your car is totalled I'm guessing you have to be a least a little bit sore somewhere. Go see your doctor and get checked out and if they don't get you a fair settlement for your car you can always contact an attorney to determine how much the injuries and inconvenience are worth to you and make up soem of the money they screwed you out of. Then, if they give you a fair deal and you're feeling generous just ask them to pay the doctor bills.
It's like insurance against insurance company ********.

I totaled my trans am a couple months ago. I was rear ended and it wasn my fault. The guy that hit me had Allstate. They ended up giving me $18,203 exactly. Thats just for the car, the medical settlement for my back and neck problems isnt settled yet.
btw, i had a 2001 T/A non- ws.6, 53K miles. I only paid 12 for the car, so I got over 6k pocket.
