Default Has Anyone Ever Sent Their Car To Lingenfelter???

Hey guys what’s going on...

Well my dad is thinking about sending his car off to Lingenfelter do let them do their 427 package to it. But then again he really wants a new Z06 but I’m trying to persuade him to just send his car off.

Reasons he does wants to do the Lingenfelter thing is that his car only has 1,000 miles on it and its a 2002 White SS and he thinks this would bring the value of it up and stand out among the rest of all low mileage f-body's

HIS CAR

Lingenfelter 427 Package

Originally wanted GMMG to do it but called last year and they said they don’t do cars for the public

So let me know what you guys think or if anyone has sent there car off to them before

Brad

I would leave the car untouched if you are going for value. LPE is a long way from NC and they have a turn around time. Keep those things in mind.

Talking lingenfelter or new Z06

Go for the Z06. It is one of the baddest cars on the planet. I know I am going to get a bunch of crap for saying this, but it is only a camaro! I just saw a new Z06 the other day and it had the new blue paint that changes color. That car was amazing. Or your pops can wait for the new ZR1 that is comming out. It has 650hp. Just my opinion. If I had the cash I would buy the Z06 without batting an eye.

Z06.

Adding an LPE 427 won't make the car more valuable. A GMMG ZL1 Phase 3 kit would, but you can't buy that option.

The Z06 is a collectors piece the day it is built. A SS with a 427 is just a SS that someone spent a lot of money they will never see again.

One more thing. Since he has only put 1k on it in 5 years. What is the point of doing anything to it anyway. It will never get driven like it's supposed to. IMO he should sell the car and buy a Honda he will actually drive.

Cars are ment to be driven, not braged about while they rot in the garage. (sorry if they offended anyone)

WOW no offense but 20 grand for 530 BHP is a rip off, if anyone does that they have WAY too much money on there hands, you can get a supercharger or bolt ons and make the same power for ALOT less, and I would get the vette modding a car like that will probally loose value and def. not gain anything

1. Doing work to a care to increase its value is pointless will cost more money than it will earn.

2. I would have the work done by a company that isn't Lingenfelter so I'm not paying double the price for the same work.

LPE is so expensive because it offers a warranty. Name another performance shop that warranties for 3 years or 36K (not sure the exact numbers).

Most people don't go to LPE for the performance, but for the name, the history, and the reliability.

Back on topic, don't mod that virgin SS. Sell it, buy a z06 and rape the **** out of 98% of cars on the road.

I strong disagree. A stock Z06 isn't anything special. Sure its fast, but rare? Exotic? Collectible? No. No. No.

I think the market for a virgin SS would be very high. If you do it right you could find a buyer obessed with them who would pay much more than it is worth due to the condition and milage. Some people are like that. They want to buy something they had once before. Second chance kind of deal. Only thing is you might have to sit on that car for awhile.

If you mod chances of finding a buyer that would want exactly that are null.

Don't buy mods as an investment, it won't be the same as a GMMG car or other special editions. It sure would be fun to drive tho, but doesn't look like your dad drives her too much.

My suggestion is if you have the means, get the Z06, and put some real miles on it on some nice roads.

Pull the engine, trans, and rearend. Put in the good stuff and just take it to the track a few times a year. Could be a hobby for you and your pops.

I vote ZO6. If he bought that Lingenfelter package, he will NEVER get nearly the amount that he has put into that car. And the ZO6 is an AMAZING car.

Not even close. If they were, then why do we see C5 ZO6s selling so cheap now (compared to their original sale price)?

Re'
"Rot" in the garage? Wow, you are extremely ignorant in your theories of limited use garage kept cars if you think they're all rotting away (sorry if I've offended you). I'll put my 10 year old 14k mile garage queen up against any other 10 year old average mileage daily driver in terms of condition, both mechanically and cosmetically, any day.

Z06. When I first started reading this, I was assuming your dad had a c6, but then I saw it was an SS. To be honest, the Z06 is a better car in every way. The Lingenfelter stuff is very nice, but it is outrageously expensive.
