Default TOTALLED 2000 Trans AM

Hey guys I had a a$$hole run a red light and t-bone my 2000 trans am. it's totalled out but I need to find out what people paid to buy their car back to part it out. I am thinking about doing this but I dont want to get in too deep without knowing some info first. I need to find a ls1 intake and TB to replace my fast 90/90 too because that's all going on my new GTO.

For me it has always been 10% of whatever they settle for the car.

That seems a little low from what I have heard from others. I guess it really all depends on what insurance company you have...

Yeah pretty much.
They will just write you a check for $7200 and let you keep the car.

State laws may make them be regulated differently as well. I just know in Missouri it is 10% of the value of the car.
Insurance companies would rather not have to mess with the car anyway, they are usually happy to sell it back to you.

I just remember when a friend totalled out his 3rd gen supra turbo, he got like 4.5k for it. They would sell it back to him for $1.1k. That's why I thought the 10% was kind of low. Maybe theres a limit for how low though.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Seems there are a lot of these threads. I know a couple local that are no longer on this mortal coil. I guess it's a good thing that mine is missing the top part of it's engine, tucked away in the garage.

Sorry to hear about your ride. I'm glad you're okay and it's good to hear the insurance company was so nice.
