I'm not exactly sure where La Farge is but If you can search autotrader and such and if you find a clean car why not have it shipped to you. I drove 1 and 1/2 hours to pick up mine. If I didn't get this one I would have had a 01 Z06 that I loved shipped to me from Texas. It would of cost me $750 to have it shipped. Check the vehicle classifieds on this site. A sponsor on this site LSX transport is a good person to get a quote from. Good Luck!

Dude, I drove over 300 miles each way to purchase my Corvette (Arkansas to Iowa) and it took me 5 months to find the perfect one... I never look back on all that driving, the only thing I lost was a whole Saturday and I get to look at it everyday now..

Offer them 18K or walk away. The C5 market is in the ******* at the moment yet owners think they're still worth a lot. We have 05's with 30K miles going for 28K in phoenix.

Thats the price i was thinking also. It is winter here so i should be able to get an even better deal because its not like theres gonna be that much of an interest here right now for a corvette. I`m waiting to hear back from the dealer tommorow because i was pretty thourough in letting him know what i would pay and what there was no way in hell i was gonna pay. we`ll be it out tommorow well, today now.

drivetrain is exactly the same, you won't notice a speed difference at all between your car and the vette. Buy it if you like it, but the C5s are just a delux f-body; that cost too much money. Good luck though, and the price is pretty low for the milage.

You've never driven a vette have you. The F-body is a POS compared to the corvette.

The Corvette is a nicer car, and it's lighter. Those two points aside, though, chemicalstylez has a very good point.

I don't understand how he can say he won't see a speed difference. Lighter, Better Aero. My old 99 Coupe went 13.3@106 with an auto. My 02 SS went 13.6@104 with an auto. There is a performance difference and above 100mph it really becomes exploited.

Now don't get me wrong. I LOVE my SS but it doesn't hold a candle to my C6 or C5 for that matter.

That is way too much money for a 10 year old Corvette I don't care how low the miles on it are. $18K-$19k is all the money for that car..keep in mind that the 97s and 98s had a few glitches and grimlins in them too..the 2000 on up were pretty good cars..

You guys brought up a lot of good points. I`m gonna keep my TA work on it, then when i get more money i`ll just go out and get a ZO6 and still keep the TA. Thanks again for all the helpful info you may have just saved me from making a big mistake i may have regretted in long run.

I"m not so sure you can regret buying a c5. Unless you are buying a bucket they really are awesome cars. But I love my TA as well

Just bad luck on your SS because my 00 WS6 has beaten my friends 99 C5 everytime we pull. 13.6 sounds like you got a dud LS1, no offense. Besides the weight theres absolutely no difference in the cars. Maybe the ooo ahh factor from the people that don't know a peach from an apple, other than that their way overpriced for an LS1.

**** Corvette prices are crazy around here. You can't find one with average miles for under $18k, even the 97s. The z06 here pull usually pull $30k+. On Autotrader with 100 mile radius the average price is $28,890 out of 231 listings. Lowest price is $13k

You are so clueless. And 13.6 is about right. My TA ran 13.6 stock, my friends ran 13.2, I've seen em run high 13s low 14s. I guess all of us got duds. And to sit there and say there is no difference? Torque tube? IRS? Leaf springs? Climate control? Memory seat/mirrors/radio station? Come one man, way different car. Same motor.

But props for the ohh awe factor for people that don't know a peach from an apple

And FYI my 98 ws6 M6 pulls my 02 vette A4 everytime. Does not mean my ws6 is a better car.
