Mine doesn't do anything when I stick one in. It skips regular CDs, so I'm hoping it's just really dirty. I'm about to buy a lens cleaning kit tonight and find out.

Also, which should I get?

People didn't listen to MP3 cds back in '98 and they sure as heck didn't listen to them in '95. I don't think they even had mp3s in 1995. I never put an mp3 cd in my 98 stock monsoon deal but I seriously doubt it would have done anything. I just changed it for a better deck.

Yeah you guys are crazy. If they could play mp3 cd's they would have album + and - buttons. You have no way to navigate a mp3 cd with a monsoon or lower deck from our cars. Period. Unless you guys are talking about just putting 8 or 9 mp3's on a cd and burning it, then yeah that will work, that is a normal cd.

.wav is the format for a normal CD, not .mp3.

My 94' Bose did but thats b/c god made the radios until he switched it engines in 97 So my LT1 radio is faster then all your LS1 Radios

But in all seriousness I doubt any of them do, especially before 99/00 and im sure if GM/Monsoon it woulda been more advertised (most of the CD players ive seen say right on the unit "plays MP3's) especially since it woulda been a newer thing back then. The best thing they offered was the CD changer in the trunk and even that isnt very common from what I see when lookin for cars

Yeah on second thought...I think the cd's that I had with mp3 original music I converted their format to something different to be able to play in my 6 disc. Sorry can't remember was so long ago.
My tape player does play 8 tracks though

I dunno, I guess.

If I get the motivation I'll check it and see if they are mp3s or wav or wmv

Do you actually mean you could throw like 150mp3s on a cd burned as data and it just plays them fine like newer headunits and aftermarket ones? Cause thats what were talking about here lol

I'm gonna say negitive on the MP3 compatibility of a '98 Monsoon. I do like it in my truck 6 cd in dash w/ MP3...it's sweet.

I think what he ment is taking 8 or 9 mp3's and burning them in audio format instead of data format. Some CD players, especially old ones have problems playing burnt audio format discs...
