another oil question
which pennzoil platinum is best for a stock ls1 that sees a lot of hard driving? Is it better than GC 0-30? I live in Hickory NC and cant find GC anywhere. If you know the answer or its already been answered point me to a page or thread otherwise thanx for your input.

It's a good oil, but never read any results indicating it was better than GC. I can get GC locally (at least for now), but b4 it was available here, I used the M1 5w-40. It's gone by various names when sold to the general public, but it's actually Delvac 1, a HD diesel oil. It's currently sold as Turbo Diesel at wallyworld in the gallon jugs and quarts, in quarts at Autozone. Has shown very good results in LS1s.

Honestly I've seen no difference between this oil, Mobil One, Castrol Syntec.
10w30, 5w30, no difference at all.

Lots of good things posted about GC on this board & bitog. In fact, it has it's own thread on bitog:

Bottom line, if you can find it, it's good stuff.

I don't know about that cheap part, I paid $6 a quart for it the first time.
I did see it at walmart for sale for $2.98 and a little over $3 at autozone, but a week later it was back up to $5.98 everywhere.

Just how cold does it get (in the winter) in your part of N.C.??
That's what you should use to determine if you want the 5W-30 or 10W-30.
BTW; IF you have Pep Boyz by you, they sometimes have sales combined with a rebate on the PennzPlat bringing the final cost down to $1.99/quart.
