The temp is finally dropping here, and it's the first time I've driven my car in the 40's. Wow, what a difference! I wasn't expecting to feel such a difference with an N/A motor.

NA motors like cold dry air. I can give you a real good example of how air affects the LS1. Back when I only had a lid, SSRA and a dynomax bullet muffler I ran my car at Rt 66 Speedway in Joliet, IL.
First run was a hot August night. It was a solid 90 degrees and somewhat humid. I remember sweating as I was sitting in the car without the air on. Best run of the night was 13.5 @ 103.
I went back to the same track with the same car and the same mods just one month later. It was 55 degrees that night and I remember running the heat because it was so cold. I ran a best of 13.1 @ 106.
With nothing different but the weather my ls1 got four tenths quicker in ET and picked up 3 mph in trap speed. Although this was going from one extreme to another. But it still goes to show how much air temp and humidaty can affect your performance.

Yeah, I see a HUGE increase here in Arizona.
Going from 90 degree nights (imagine our 120 degree days) at the track, my buddys TA was running flat 14s and 13.9s
Fast forward to now 45 degrees at night with the same mods and it's sitting at the normal 13.4
(he is an A4 without a stall)

Huh, I thought it was just my mind messing with me when it gets cold, But I can definitely feel a difference from the Jersey 100% humidity summer days to now when its like 38*F and 40% humidity. I like it

Traditionally mileage will drop during the winter. I believe that has something to do with the winter blend of fuel used this time of year, I was reading on a gas pump something about the fuel being aerated ( I think ??) to reduce emission from October through March.

Mine is responding really strong right now, but it actually kinda sucks cause 1st and 2nd gear are useless unless I wanna smoke the tires. Today I was at a 45 MPH roll and laid into it and the tires went up in smoke.

Yeah, forged Cobra engines don't like that cold air...or too hot, lol. Its been around 25 degrees here in the mornings. I haven't even driven the car to work! You need to let these engines warm up good before cold driving, and not run them hardcore in weather thats too hot. They are strong, but still a little sensitive!
...but...when they can suck in that mild air they will run like a ****!

i wake up about 4:30 in the morning and drive to work when its still freezing here and the car just loves it
the elevation here sucks though add a half to a whole second to your 1/4 time car if you run here

As for horsepower. Of course cold air is more dense and less apt to detonate. More air + colder charge = more power. The formula goes something like 10 degrees in intake air temp affects horsepower by 1%. Hotter in a negative way colder in a positive way.
As for the gasoline they oxygenate it during the cold months which makes you mileage take a hit for sure. And if you are like me it takes longer to warm your car up in the morning 10-15 minutes when its 15* outside and it only takes you 3 minutes to get to work. Then mileage will really suffer.

When I use to be stationed at Luke AFB in Phoenix, my roommate and I would purposely find a reason to take the cars out for a run during the winter time simply because the temps were very low and the significant difference in the way the cars performed in the cold weather compared to 100+ degree weather. I'm now stationed in Cali and all that I can say is, take your car out for a short freeway blast when it's 32 degrees outside...
