Default Dyno Tune

I was wondering how much a dyno tune would benefit my car. I just installed the headers, ORY, and a Lid. I've read some threads where people say that their car really woke up after the tune but is it really worth $500?? how much hp/tq can expected to be gained? I realize that a tune would be in order if I had just installed a cam but for just full exhaust and intake would would be the benefits? Thanks for any info. BTW I would be getting a tune at Masport auto which is only about 30mins away.

I dk if the price is $500 for sure, I've yet to talk to the shop to get a price. I've just heard that the shop charges $400-$500 for a tune. I'm in Palm Beach Florida BTW.

most shops charge around 500 for the initial tune and 100 for additional tunes. tunes are a MUST

are you planning on doing any other mods in the near future? If so...i would just get the o2s tuned out and wait for a full tune.

No, I'm probably done modding. It's my weekend warrior anyways so its just a car to drive around in for fun and go to the strip occasionally with some friends. so i was wondering how much my car would benefit from the tune.

It will help a good bit. Its worth the money...but not $500. Try looking somewhere else...i can get the full tune for $300 around here.

It's crucial...GM is holding back from the factory. In the whole scheme of things its a small price for optimum performance. You could see upwards of 15-30 hp and torque gains across the board with your mods if properly tuned

You would probably see more gains from an M6 than an A4 just because the M6s dyno more although I have been surprised a few times.

A tune is most likely the best thing you can do for your motor ... but make sure you let someone do the work who knows what (s)he's doing ...
Just checked out a guy's "built and tuned" firebird ... that tune was a total mess ... car doesn't even run decently ... fouled up two sets of plugs just trying to let it run ... heck, I didn't even need my EFILive to know it's not running right - you could smell the unburnt fuel ...
Anyway, the stock tune is a safety configuration, made so that any variances a motor might have from production don't cause it to mess up ... So with your mods, it will sure help you a lot! Just for comparison, without doing anything else to my car, just by tuning the VE table, I took off almost .5s on the Quartermile! Can't wait till my mod parts are in and the motor is tuned for them

You may see more gains on the dyno from a M6 car, but the autos respond better to tuning. By tuning the shift pressures and shift times you can make those cars completely different. The difference before and after is much more extreme with the auto cars, not so much with the 6 speeds.

I would say its a really good thing to get done. My car didn't even make it through the first pull because the guy said it was running dangerously lean. Although every car will respond differently to mods that right there is a good indication to get it done. The second pull I made like 32Xrwhp and 33Xrwtq and then on the final pull I made the numbers in my sig. It's good to know where your car stands and how it is running, and knowing that it's dialed in is a good feeling too.

If you are done modding I would definitely get a tune. If you think you may add a cam later then I would wait.

Sometimes you can catch sponsors doing dyno tune specials.

Yeah you should definetly get a tune and it is worth every penny. I will be putting headers and my ory on in the next few weeks and possibly an ls6intake so I will need one but its a must
