Default Front tire shredded. Best way to get stuck rubber off the rim?

My front tire shredded on my way home last night. It left black rubber all over the inside and outside of the rim. I managed to cut the tire off, and the rim looks reuseable, but what is the best way to get the stuff off the rim? Is there a special chemical, or do I just use soap and elbow grease?

Have you tried WD40? I know a lot of people use that to get rubber off their rear quarter panels.

Nope, I haven't tried anything yet. Maybe I'll try the WD40 though.

Go to a tire shop and see if you can buy one of their cans of "rubber pre-buff cleaner" shouldnt be more than $20. Its the stuff they use to clean the tire before applying patches, the stuff is killer we use it on all kinds of stuff, especially getting rubber, asphalt, brake dust off of aluminum wheels, hope this helps. also if your wheels arent painted aint thinner works too, just make SURE its not a painted wheel!!
