Yup, its because of the weight dist from front to back, i think its pretty off(like 61/39).....on most beemers(maybe 3 or 4 models dont), the weight distribution is almost always 50/50.

width of the tires doesnt help at all either. although they are good for dry, they distribute the weight of the car over more of area, cutting through the snow less and basically allowing you to slide across the top of the snow rather than biting down into the concrete.

Buy some skinny *** steel wheels all around and studded snows for the back, throw some bags of salt or sand or concrete in the trunk and have at it. A lot of people cry about driving their nice car in snow but sometimes its the only choice you have. Its not like its a 300,000$ lambo or something. I like the rear wheel power a little better than awd/fwd because you get less of that false sense of confidence on snowy/icy roads and tend to be more careful. Just have to hope your car isn't lowered because that cool snowplow effect wears off when the front wheels lift off the ground.

Does your car make 300 HP below 3000 RPMs? I know this may be a foriegn concept to you, but just because you drive a Camaro does not mean you're entitled to punch it to the rev limiter every time you go to the grocery store. I don't know how comprehenisve your driver's ed. program was (or if you even paid any attention in it), but in mine, I was taught that in adverse weather conditions, you're supposed to drive slowly and cautiously...even if that means going below the speed limit on a given stretch of road.

Fbodys have the gas tank over the rear wheels . If you keep it full of gas that lots of weight back there. They also have second gear start in autos . I use 235 60 winter tires and the only problem i have ever had has been in realy deep snow . 7 years now .

Well tell your Mom she is right! They are great in the snow! Yes I caught this pic from my phone today! We had a good amount of snow in the AM as you can see in the pic. I don't like driving my Vette or Formula in Snow so I took our Equinox. This is what i stumbled upon

To the OP's mom, F-Bodies are not good in the snow. Peroid. It can be done, but it's far better to have another vehicle.
If you made a thread asking if sportbikes were bad in the snow, some knucklehead would post up how he rides his turbo Busa up hill to work in a blizzard and never has a problem.
Bottom line, if you can afford a second car, the is no good reason to monkey around with a f'ing Trans Am in the snow.

Thats me and my idea of sticking it to the law....
Figured the hooker boots and bending over might do it for some people. Disregard the face she is making.

This is your Mother speaking.
Don't drive in the snow, you might poke your eye out!
Okay, seriously...unless you have had a significant time driving in snow and ice there is no way I'd recommend taking it out. Doesn't matter what vehicle it is ice=skating rink=crash.
If you have the cash for repairs then go for it because some idiot is going to slide into you assideways.
