4 11's-3 73
I have 4 11 gears right now in an a4 everyone says its too much gear for an a4 although i dont see a problem with them, would my car run the quarter faster with the 3 73 even though there lower gears.

I just played around with the gear calculator for a minute.
With a stock tire size 3rd *should* be good for 111mph at 6000 RPMs. I'm not sure if the calculator takes converter slippage or any of that **** into consideration.
If you don't mind the street manners of the 4.11s, if you can hook on them, and you're not going to be trapping over 111ish then they're fine. A couple years ago my buddy had a 96 Z/28 with full bolt ons, 4.11s, and Mickeys...that car ripped from a dig.

I would stay away from the 4.11s. If you are trapping 110 at the top of third, and you decide to mod big (such as heads, cam, fi, full bolt ons w/ tune, etc..) you will cross the line in fourth after the mods due to the increased speed. 3.73's are the highest I'd go in an automatic, but thats just me. With gas prices the way they are, I think I'd sacrifice a little track time for a few mpgs.
