I spent $120 or so on a radar I was going to use for a week until I could order an escort and have it delivered. I was just going to use it until I could get the Escort, and then take it back (love walmart). It works so well, that I never bothered ordering the escort... and I continue to use it over 2 years later.

I can't count the number of times it has saved me. $120 Cobra radar with an LCD screen from walmart. I got a ticket once when I let my GF borrow it on a road trip and I raced a truck without knowing a cop was radaring, and I got a ticket another time when a cop was hiding in a parking lot and heard my car then flipped the radar on. I did have a chance to slow down from 85 to 66 when it went off, but I still got the ticket.

Just an hour ago, I was riding with a friend in his Rustang and a chipped diesel wanted a race. We took off, next thing we know we hear chirps and see bright lights. Luckily, the truck got pulled over.. because there was a cloud of smoke blocking view of us in front of him lol!

yeah i bought a radar from a dude for $5 and it has been the best $5 i have ever spent, it has got me out of countless tickets!! in indiana we have something called a defferal (sp) and it means you have to pay $180 and cant get a for 6 months, if you do that they wont turn the ticket in and they will just rip it up. but if you do get a ticket within the 6 months you have to repay that ticket, and then pay the new ticket too with ment you just payed the $180 for nothing...

They do that here also, but only for tickets 15mph or less over the posted limit.

For 58/35 and 66/35, I couldn't even get an attorney to help me out.

And no I wasn't near any houses, on a 4 lane road with a 35mph limit!

On a side note.... Is there a cop scanner or radar detector or something I can get to help prevent this in the future?
Stop being late to work?

Not my court, lol. I went in clean cut, dressed well, everything. Got nothing in return. But, it was my ****-up, so I paid for it and went on my way. The city prosecutor is a ******** anyways.. I wouldn't mind seeing him jump in front of a bus.

I hate to tell you but if the V1 goes off with a laser warning you are pretty much busted. Laser is so precise that if the detector goes off it was pointing directly at your car if the cop is using it right and you are done. Only thing out there that can stop laser is a jammer or a product made by Veil (google it).

If you get 3 speeding tickets a year you are going to be hurting for a LONG time with your insurance. Youve got to slow down when it doesnt count. If your job is 30 miles away and you only speed at 10 over you are only gaining 3 minutes at 60 MPH. Itll take you 15 minutes to get there. At 70 MPH itll take you 12 minutes. Does that sound like a lot of time? Nope. Not worth the ticket there.

I got stopped for doing 82 in a 70, cost me $400 to get out of. The courts are always on the cop's side too, but what can you do? When I got stopped, it was radared by a cop sitting on an overpass on the interstate so I didn't get to see the radar, so it's their word against mine. It's bullshit because I don't think I was going any faster than the flow of traffic. I guess that's the price I have to pay for driving a car that sticks out like a sore thumb (33 Ford)! I had to get a lawyer though because I have a CDL and they're strict on those.

so far im up to 9 tickets. state keeps try to pull my "driving privliges" as they call it. they even tried to throw me in jail for a stupid speeding ticket(105 in a 60 and evading), but remember this; "He who has the best lawyer keeps driving".... of course i have had to spend over 3k in fines. anyways, i think you will be ok. if not, find a good lawyer.

i do agree with that, about 2 years ago i got into a lot of trouble, and well i paid BIG bucks for a lawyer which got me out of trouble. their were people with my similar case that couldnt get off the hook, but its just all about the money when it comes down to it, needless to say i was broke forever over it, but it paid off in the long run.

While for most detectors this is true the v1 does pick up the scatter off of other cars. The laser warning has saved my plenty of times and i can assure you that it works. Remember, the laser doesn't always get a good reading if any on the first try.

V1 is the best investment you can make, plain and simple, i wouldn't trade mine for anything besides a newer v1.

The scatter on a new laser unit is right around 2% compared to about 40-50% on a radar unit. Yes the V1 will give you a warning but if you are being targeted it is TOO late many of the times. Like I said it also depends on the officer shooting it. If he is shaking and standing up the beam is going to be about 24-48" at about 300ft. If he is sitting still and has the gun propped up on something the beam is going to be 2-4" at 300ft. HUGE difference there.

Im just saying this because some people might read what you said and think that the V1 will protect them against laser as well as it does against radar.

This is the only product that can really stop a laser enough to give your radar unit time to warn you before it reads a speed to the officer. http://www.laserveil.com/veil/buy/

best thing about the V1 is that as radar and laser technologies progress, so do Valentines detectors, and i believe if you send in your old model, you get a discount on the new model. and laserveil is illegal in many states, so watch the laws on that...

Radar Detectors are also illegal in many places, but who cares, doesn't stop people from using, even with the knowledge of cops bearing Radar detector detectors. Just get whats good so you don't have a leaky detector that can be picked up from a mile away.

i just know police aren't very fond of scrambling devices. i love the V1 though, it's paid for itself multiple times.
