Have you looked at the tranny mount to see if it is loose or worn?

In my car it was the tranny mount. Replaced it and no more problems. Then about a month ago I heard a similar sound. It was NOT the tranny mount this time. It was the front bushing for the torque arm, totally gone. Guess I will be getting with UMI after the holidays.

do you just shake the tranny to see if it moves? or how do you know if the mount is the problem?

Yes, and more so in reverse. I couldn't figure out the mount problem for the life of me. Dealer found the problem.

Yeah, are you sure the sound is coming from the tranny? A bad CAT can sound like rocks rattling around in a can. The stuff inside clumps up.

Do you feel any vibration in the shifter hand or stem?

Sounds great

That is a common problem with these cars. For a temporary fix a new Energy Suspension torque arm bushing would work.
