My camaro doesn't have that but my truck does. Usually those just measure how many miles you've gone since the oil change light was last reset, rather than monitoring the actual oil's properties. Your manual should show how to reset it.

its not simply just pushing the trip reset....I believe the key has to be turned to the "on" position and then hold the trip reset button down for about 15 seconds. The change oil light will then flash letting you know its reset.

Whenever you change your oil you have to reset the gauge or the light will come on.

Turn the key,(not starting the car) hold the trip meter button down for 10 seconds.

thats what is does when the oil life monitor calculates its time for an oil change. if it gets ignored, eventually it will stay on the entire time the engine is running.
