Replaced A/C tensioner - Squeak is worse!!!

Thumbs down Replaced A/C tensioner - Squeak is worse!!!

Like the title says. Replaced it because there was a squeak and its apparently a common issue on the LS1's... I thought this would fix it but I guess thats not so. The squeaking is now wayyy louder and more so annoying!

So wtf do I do now? Do I replace the other pulley above this one (it seems to be fine, the one I replaced was toast)? What part is it? AZ and Advance only show one pulley for that area... Are they the same? And one more question... How the hell do I get it off? I dont see a bolt there at all...

EDIT: Title should say tensioner PULLEY

botton a/c pulley on tensioner...........got ya.......the 2 pulleys are the same part number.......bottom is a 15mm bolt.......top is a torx 50......i replaced both on mine....dayco 89135......its metal instead of the OEM plastic......said to reduce noise

Your new spring has more strength and is making your idler pulley (blue one) louder than it was.

Make sure you have a good bite on that T50 bit. It's easy to strip.

Didnt replace tensioner, just the pulley.

OP have you ever actually thought about diagnosing the noise rather than just replacing radomn parts.
Step 1: eliminate and narrow you noises from the source, a stethoscope are great tools for this exact issue you can get a basic stethoscope for about $10.00 at almost any parts store.
Step 2: If you believe it to be in the A/C system side then remove the MAIN belt, with the engine running then use the stethoscope to locate the noise (DO NOT ALLOW THE ENGINE TO RUN TOO LONG WITHOUT COOLANT FLOW) , could be a pulley, could be the A/C belt. This should be a good starting point for you.

My guess is it is actually 1 of the belts, I prefer Gates belts.

I used a rubber hose instead of a stethoscope. Its deff the AC side. I bought a 410k4 belt. Did I get the right one? Ill be putting it on as soon as the new pulley comes in.

Thanks for the tips, but I did diag. I thought for sure it was the lower one. Putting the hose next to it was deafening.

And the pulley I took off was toast. It was dragging and grinding.

Gave it hell and it actually broke the T50 bit! That thing wouldn't budge.

At least changed the belt and Ive only heard it chirp a couple of times.

The issue now is that I can see the replaced pulley pop out just a lil bit here and there (if that makes any sense). I can hear a slight click when it does this and its barely visible... WTH?

We grinded it down, this way it would be tougher... at least I hope

Im just worried about that other pulley popping in and out. Scary stuff LOL
