Help me fix my Cruise Control
Ok, I bought this A4 '99 Trans Am a little while back and the cruise has not worked since I bought it. I've searched on here found a few things to check but nothing has fixed it yet.
So far I've checked the fuses (A/C rely is working) and I've checked the brake switch to make sure it is flush against the brake pedal with my foot off the brake. Still nothing.
I'm not quite sure what the next step should be. I have HPtuners so if there's a switch in there I can look at to see if it's enabling that would be helpful. I'm kind of stuck right now with this problem, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Not knocking you and not being a smart *** but check the cable to make sure it didn't pop off.
I had it happen today
As for the U1000 code it is a generic code I believe, just clear it. If it is in history it shouldn't have an affect on cruise control function as far as I know.

That was one of the first things I checked. All the cables are connected and that's good to know about the U1000.
I'm thinking that it's either the switch on my steering column or the cruise disengage switch on the brake. I'm a novice at anything wiring, does anyone know how I can check these to see if they still work?

Do you have your own scanner?
I have a Tech2 and with it you are able to see if the brake light switch is activated. If you have a scanner it may have that info in one of the data displays.
If the brakes light switch still activates the brake light on and off perfectly I don't think the problem is gonna be n that circuit.
Maybe someone who has access to alldata can post a wiring diagram for the cruise control circuit???
