I've had good luck with the Power Master brand starters. They cost more but are worth it IMO.

The starter is fine! ... Brand new starter is in already. The car just still doesn't want to crank. ... I'm just wondering if even though my VATS is now tuned out, should I still try bypassing the Passkey under the steering column? .. Even though VATS is tuned out, the security light still flashes. It just won't read a code/DTC on my scanner.

...???

Explain what you said...

Does the starter motor spin...?
Does the solenoid pull in...?
Does the pinion engage on the ring gear on the flexplate/flywheel...?

The gear on the OLD starter would not engage/protrude. I took it out and had it bench tested at autozone and saw it for myself. ... Funny thing is, BOTH the starter and Passkey was tripping out. 2 problems at the same damn time!! I did the Passkey Bypass yesterday https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-m...how-video.html. <--made a Vid of it. ... Car runs now!
