Does a bad starter throw a code? ... If it does, what code would it be?

That's what I thought! ... Thanks.
... I have another thread going on in the tunning section and the problems I've already addressed were a p1637 & p1626. ... Actions already taken were bench testing the alternator and battery (both good)... Exctiter Wire from alternator changed. Romoved PCM from the car and had my Tuner turn my VATS "off". ... Now, I'm not throwing any codes but she's still not turning over.
Only thing(s) left to check or try are the starter, starter relay or passkey bypass and big thick battery cable.
.... Good times!
This is "process by elimination" at it's retarded best! ... If anyone can mention a variable that i haven't considered, I'm all ears. ....Opinions?

BTW, I swapped the original starter out about a year and a half ago with a REFERBISHED starter. ... If it's the starter, I'm never buying a refurbished anything ever again!

Ummm, testing the starter should have been one of the very first things you tested if the car isn't cranking. I would say before sending the PCM out, and bench testing the alternator and battery. Definitely check out the starter. And yes, seeing that you bought a refurb, I would highly suspect that to be the culprit. I don't buy any rebuilt or refurbished garbage because they simply don't last. It's usually not worth it in the long run.

... I know, I know! I feel stupid for not testing it first. ... BUT...
...I bench tested the starter. The small gear would not protrude and engage. .. Bought a new starter. Put it in. ..... CAR STILL WON'T START!!!! ... ... I feel like punting a small child right now!

starter solenoid isnt located on the steering column its part of the starter assembly. i think you meant ignition switch. i would try what i suggested and have someone tap on the starter with a hammer while you crank it over, might just have a dead spot. worth a shot atleast.

I had an ignition switch go out and it acted like that, the thin wires cracked over time. I replaced it with one from gm, but could have replaced the wires if your on a budget. It might be worth looking to check for obvious breakages. Maybe eliminating vats makes my suggestion wrong though.. Idk

Well I just had someone try cranking it over while I was under the car. It sounds like the starter is working. Im just not hearing the **click** sound everyone knows and loves. ...
... I'm wondering if there would be any point in doing the passkey bypass if my VATS are tuned out already. .....??? ....
