Replaced bent wheel
A very noticeable vibration/almost jerking at times developed in my steering wheel. I had a tire shop look at it, and sure enough the front wheel was wobbling on the wheel balance machine. So, I replace it Saturday and have it been computer balanced and installed. The vibration is better but not completely gone. What else should I check? I had a front end alignment a few months ago when I had a rack and pinion installed.

Did they do a road force check on the tires? You could have an issue there, it measures out of roundness of the tire. Also, you could have play in either the ball joints, tie rod ends, or even the wheel bearing. Jack the car up underneath the control arm and shake each front wheel side to side, as well as up and down. Basically, if the wheel was a clock, put your hands at 3 and 9 oclock and shake, then at 12 and 6 and shake. Side to side play usually indicates outer tie rod play, up and down play usually indicates ball joint play. Have a buddy peek behind the wheel with a flashlight to see exactly what is moving if there is play. If you see just the wheel moving and not any movement of the spindle, it's most likely wheel bearing play.

They did not do a road force check. I had them check both front wheels. The other one was fine. I'm not sure how it got bent - probably pothole or something.
