Default hesitation and lack of power and awkward moments

i have a hesitation right around 2500, its like its for a quarter of a second and comes out of it...unplugged my maf..shifts extremely hard and snappy... seems to run better but just not sure...messed around with it the other night, went for a ride with the maf unplugged and came back home popped the hood and plugged it back in, and unplugged the TPS and it acted up a bit plugged that back in, unplugged the IAC motor? i think thats what it was, on the throttle body, unplugged that and plugged it back in... and in the midst of this the idle jumped up to 1300 and absolutely slammed gears, any one of them and this was when everything was plugged back in and i cleared the codes and shut it off and turned it back on and idle was still at 1300...so i said screw it and left it..it also acts that way at random when im driving sometimes..it idles high, shifts late for normal driving and shifts hard, and once in a while the asr light will come on during this...

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

So, with the MAF unplugged, does it hesitate or doesn't it? You need to fix that first.

Get some MAF cleaner, clean it up, plug it back in, and you should be fine.

Not all of the sensors are like the MAF where you unplug it and other systems take over. Once you clean up the MAF and see how things go, you can figure out if there are other issues.

Another thing with a fouled MAF is that the problem is always repeatable.

I blamed my K&N. Went to paper and life has been great since.

The K&N won't shed oil that fast. If you get a magnifying loupe and remove the screens on your MAF you can look and see how clean it is. (Just don't touch the element - its very fragile.) Under magnification, you can see if any areas are still dirty/black.

I ended up using a Q-Tip and a gentle touch to get mine spotless, but if you do that - you are taking a $400 risk in the event you brake one of the MAF elements.

I've had the k&n for about a year. And I guess all I did was spray it with cleaner

was it re-oiled, and possibly over oiled? had similar issue; too much oil and it didnt dry 100% first before i put it back in. i just do one pass with the spray

also check o2's! they screw up everything!

and yes get that maf fixed, that will probly kill your mileage and give it stuttering problems

i took it out of the package and put it in so however oiled it was from factory is how it is...o2's seem to be working and fluctuating voltages the way they should, but ive also put in e-30 and i end up getting a lean code for the 02 sensors which is understandable...i dont run that **** anymore..

I had a hesitation issue at 2300 to 2400 rpms on my 1998 camaro for about 10 months... Got a tune upe fuel injectors cleaned new o2 sensors...still had the problem but not as bad. Then i cleaned thee MAF with some alcohol and my car started running like it used to run.
