Default Car wash gone bad

I took my 2001 Z28 to the car wash the other day. They cleaned the engine bay as well.

Now I have the following lights always on
ABS-ASR OFF-CHECK ENGINE-AIR BAG-CHECK GAUGES

In addition, the following gauges are not working
RPM-Temp-Fuel

the car seems to be driving ok though...

What could have gone wrong????? Did some of the washing materials they used got into parts causing the above problems???

Please help!! What can I do?
Thanks,

The water in your engine bay probably tripped something. I accidentally drove through a thick puddle and got a Check Engine for multiple misfires. By the time I had the light reset, the engine was dry and never got the issue again.

Whenever I clean my Engine Bay, I cover the alternator, fuse box, and other electricals with either a grocery bag or a thick cloth. I've never had any trouble detailing that area.

so nothing to worry about? I just wait for the engine bay to dry and those lights will go off and the gauges will be operational again?

@ Tx91z28.
I opened the fuse box cover and nothing seems wrong. how can I check the fuse if working or not?

@ PhoenixFBody
so if I go to a shop and have the lights reset that will solve the issue? but what about the gauges? How will I make them work again?

Have you ever disconnected the PCM before? GM has a TSB out on it for when the connector is removed, a new seal has to be installed. (Otherwise water can get in the connector.)

I'd suggest checking the connector for water... but if you do and its not the problem, you'll need a new seal anyway.

^agree, disconnect your battery for about an hour and turn your lights on to get all the juice out. Mine did this after a big rain storm and turned itself off a couple days later. Just take your battery off and wait a while and you should be good to go.

Wouldn't leaving the lights on for an hour drain the battery entirely and the car won't start?

The battery is disconnected. The switch for the lights are on to drain any residual power in the system. The lights won't actually be "on".

Take it to a dealer or trusted mechanic and have them scan it for codes.

You may also have some water puddling in places that would otherwise take days to dry. Grab an air compressor and blow everything out!

I would get the codes read before erasing them. If they are erased and there is still a problem, then the light would eventually illuminate again.

Definately water in some fuses made that light turn on, alot of times by leting it dry with the hood open will fix the problem. If that doesnt fix the issues go to a proffesional mechanic or your local dealer to check what is wrong.

Today I noticed that the ABS unit connector and pins have melted on the 2 sides ( the black piece of the ABS unit and the black pins piece which connects to it).

I immediately disconnected the pins from the ABS unit. Forgot to tell also that brake lights, hazard lights and fog lights also aren't working.

The gauges are working again.

Currently, ABS, ASR and Hand brake and Check Engine lights are on and brake, hazad and fog lights are not working.

Seems to me I have to replace the ABS unit. But how about the pins connector? does it come separately or I have to change the entire cables?

If I change the ABS and the pins will that solve brake, hazard and fog lights issue?

Thanks for the help guys.

GM dealers have pin repair kits where they can rebuild the connectors and pins. You can get the tools required, but it will probably take $300 and a lot of time to track everything down that you need.

so I took the car to a local chevy dealer for a scan today and got the following codes

P0452 which I know was there before the wash and is related to a fuel tank pressure sensor. Is this something serious I need to worry about? Been driving this car for more than 2 years and didn't notice any issues with the fuel. My full fuel tank drives for about 300KM city driving and I always use 98octane fuel. Is the fuel consumption normal?

The other code which comes is P01626. What is this code about? again is it serious?

thanks for the help
