Replacing A/C Compressor
Hey folks, I already bought an A/C Condenser off of RockAuto. I was wondering what A/C Compressor to buy? The condenser I bought was ACDelco PN#156940.
Thank you in advance

I bought an AC Delco from my dealership when my compressor went bad like 8 years ago. It came with a lifetime warranty...Parts and Labor. Its been replaced twice since then.....paid for itself. I think I paid $600 for the first one.
Well worth it if your dealer gives you a lifetime warranty......I will never pay for an AC repair again. Parts or Labor.

I would buy a compressor, dryer/accumulator ($30), oring kit ($10) and orifice tube ($3). Also get a bottle of PAG oil. Try to get 6 ounces in the system (can pour directly in the compressor and/or the condensor), then recharge with regular cheap freon (2 to 3 cans) and replace any o rings on anything you break open.

heres what i bought:
compressor: delphi CS0134 (from vatozone since they have a 20% discount and free shipping over $100) at the time that was cheaper than rockauto and probably still is with the coupon ($318 - 20%)
Orifice tube: ACDelco 15-5378 free shipping with amazon prime ($7)
Acumulator: ACDelco 15-10095 also through amazon ($36)
all with free shipping
Im probably going to take the car to a shop next week to get them installed. I dont know much about AC.

Compressor is just like a big air pump, it pushes gasses and compresses them to make high pressure coming out of the compressor into the ac line
The ac line has an orifice tube to block pressure, as it restricts and releases pressure the gasses change temperature and go into the evaporator under the dash. Think of the orifice tube as a nozzle on the end of your garden hose.
The compressor takes that low pressure gas back from the evap core and makes it a high pressure again
Simple terms

Take to a shop for freon fill
You need to have the system vacuumed before Freon can be added. A vacuum with high and low plugs are required. Take it to a shop for this. It removes 99% moisture and O2 leaving only room for R134. You will get a colder system and longer life. Don't buy those little cans either.
