Heater Core/HVAC box removal?
I have removed my dash from the interior... motor is still in the car... lots of threads on this but not many pictures work anymore.
Wanting to remove the entire HVAC box/Heater core setup from the engine bay...realize that it comes out from the passenger compartment that's why I removed the dash thinking it bolted in from passenger compartment... Now that the dash is out I realize that it bolts in from engine bay. After removing PCM I can still only see a couple of the bolts holding it in. Rest are hidden....
Anyone have tips or tricks to get this thing out, or links to a thread with working pics etc...?
All help is appreciated.
Thank you.

Smash it to bits and use a few different air saws haha, thats what I did and my engine was out. If you're taking it all out then you were correct in removing the dash, has to be removed to get the inside box out. I'll see if I can pull up the procedure on all data.
*EDIT* Just looked it up, looks like on the ls1 cars it all comes out as one, from the inside.

No problem, this certainly helps... I'll move things around and fight with it for as long as I can take it without cutting it up. Upgrading to 8.50 cert cage while it's out. Want to put it back in modified to retain heat, but if it fights me too long I'll just cut it out and call it a day. Just as easy to toss a microfiber on the passenger seat for fogged up window race nights lol.

Yes thank you for the reply, I saw once I peeled back more of that hard rubber sound deadening material up against the firewall there was a few in there, and I found the one dead center, don't think I can get it without removing my intake unfortunately. Not a huge deal, just a pain in the ***. Like any minor project, it has become a major undertaking lol.

Got it out last night. No issues. Took my time. All done in about an hour thanks to your help and my buddy who came over. Long extensions and some wobble sockets helped to do with without removing anything but the coils and PCM. Only thing I did was cut the heater core hoses for now. Didn't feel like cutting up my knuckles any more to get the ones against the fire wall unclamped... too bad UPS lost the package containing the delete panel I bought that was supposed to be delivered yesterday. Can't catch a break. Thanks again gents.

Glad you got it. For the future, this type of tool works amazing for getting those heater hose clamps under the cowl, or any of the spring-type radiator hose clamps.

Thank you sir. They do look quite capable. Worth the money I'll have to pick up a set.
