I drove to a store walked in came back started my car and when i drove off the car is Comletely slugeish. It will not go up hills is sputters and shakes. I had gotten gas 15 mile before. so i limp home and change the fuel filter. no help. so then i put $10 of gas in it again (I only got $10 before) this semmed to help. but not for long. so i drove it alittle while longer. put another fuel filter on it. no help. put new plug wires also (had cars act this way and they needed plug wires). Now whin car sits for hour or 2 or more, runs like **** for like 5-8 miles but then cleans up. i am out of ideas. Could it just be bad gas. and when it sits all the **** is not mixed up and that is what i am trying to burn but once the car moves and mixes it up it runs better. Do i have to keep driving it untile i burn it all up. or any other ideas. please

No ideas here, but mine does the same thing for about 30 sec to a min. Example, I run into the store and come back out and the car is sluggish as crap, like I am missing 4 cylinders, for about 30 sec to a min, then clears right up. Tomorrow I am changing the plugs, we will see what happens. BTW does you car smoke at all while doing this. (mine does not).

your o2 sensors can just one day start to go out.. i ran into albertsons and came out 15 mintes later and i turned the car on and it sound and started up in a way it never had before.. it felt like there was a constant knocking and it was having trouble idling.. and i started to drive and it was acting like it was gunna die and it was struggling to go up a hill.. found out my 02s were jumping as much as they are supposed to.. go get a computer scanner from a good performance place and let them read your o2s and how they are jumping and see if that might be your problem

i just bought a 97 formula and when i start it the rpms jump from about 900 to 1100 constantly, and when i try and give it some gas she starts sputtering, i seen a small amount of white smoke coming from the exhaust, and the check engine light is on...does anyone know what it could be?

Same for me...only every once in a while it starts sputtering and not accelerating....then it goes away, i was thinking its just a loose wire and i was ganna check toamrrow
